Really hoppy initial aroma. Amber color. Sweetish. A nice little bit of yeasty aroma. Pretty nice, but still young. Needs some age. fidel (944), Livermore, California, USA

Sweet caramel and dried fruit nose. The flavor is quite sweet and lots of caramel with a bit of a hot finish. Nik925 (305), California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 18, 2008 I’m becoming more accepting of super-sweet barley wines, but this one is still too sweet. Great hop-bill, and a good amount of complexity but still really sweet. Great color, but lacking head (ok within style). Apple notes are almost as strong as the hop flavor. yespr (12137), Copenhagen O, Denmark
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2008 12 fl oz bottle. Pours deep amber to hazzlenut brown and golden with a lacing off-white head. Aroma is solid barley and woody aroma, mild hoppy pineneedle note, mild fruity note too. Flavour starts with a solid hoppy wooden flavour with an underlying liqourice note. Dense and barley flavoured. Bitter and mild spiced. Lingering hoppy and dry wooden finish with a mild liqourice note. Nice. LtDan (504), LA - Originally from South NJ!, California, USA

Sugars, appleskin, chocolate and spices. The first few sips were of un-sweetened chocolate. Then I was so dissapointed there was nothing more than dull chocolate water, so I poured it down the drain. I am a barley-wine lover, and this made me sad. jonno (576), Brisbane, Australia

Lots of caramel, brown sugar, hop and honey goo-ness, er, goodness. Perfect carbonation and viscosity on the palate couples with soulful esophageal booze-burn rather satisfyingly, sip after sip. Not the best barleywine ever, but definitely one of the better ones out there. Very enjoyable overall. Thanks Speakeasy.
