Sugars, appleskin, chocolate and spices. The first few sips were of un-sweetened chocolate. Then I was so dissapointed there was nothing more than dull chocolate water, so I poured it down the drain. I am a barley-wine lover, and this made me sad. jonno (596), Brisbane, Australia

Lots of caramel, brown sugar, hop and honey goo-ness, er, goodness. Perfect carbonation and viscosity on the palate couples with soulful esophageal booze-burn rather satisfyingly, sip after sip. Not the best barleywine ever, but definitely one of the better ones out there. Very enjoyable overall. Thanks Speakeasy. Beerman6686 (1292), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2008 Poured a dark amber with a white head. Aroma was typical barleywine, lots of malts basically. Flavor was much the same very malty, not much hops, but hid the alcohol very well. Acknud (792), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2008 12 oz bottle from Bevmo. Pours a translucent amber-brown color with a beige head that left ample lacing. The aroma is big with malted barley, caramel, toffee, and biter walnuts. The flavor showed biter hops, raisins, dates and sweet barley malt. The mouthfeel is smooth and malty. The finish is long with lingering barley. Overall--a barley wine for barley wine fans. All others beware. Snojerk321 (2019), San Diego, California, USA

Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin, lightly-lacing, off-white head. Aroma of complex sweet caramel and some fresh citrusy hops. Body starts sweet and caramely malty with a touch of grapefruity bitterness and toasted toffee. Finishes slightly warming and astringent. Has a decent balance of sweet malt and fresh hops.
