WOAH this has some spicy hoppy aroma for an "amber ale"!!, some caramel malts underneath , but well buried.
Very hoppy, citric for an amber, but it does have a rich malty balance in the end, but again near the end the hops roar back into top-gear.
Nice on the palate, quite good.
Overall i have my doubts about this being an "Amber ale" it totally stretches the category to the max.
This is more an IPA though on the balanced side. fakepurseninja (791), Washington, USA

A little spicy and grassy, the hops taste a little fresh as well but it is balanced really well with a nice malt base. The malt is really by ’by committee’ as there is no starring role and its not overly strong. Has the soul of an IPA with a piney finish with a hint of citrus. Really great drink. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 20, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Piscator34: Poured a clear deep amber color ale with a medium size foamy head with great retention and perfect lacing. Aroma of bitter hops is dominating with little malt discernable. Taste is also dominated by some deep bitter hops with a dry finish. I could not detect a lot of caramel malt as the label suggested. Body is quite full with some great carbonation. badlizard (2386), Berkeley, California, USA

Excellent beer to sip on while watching the Dodgers smack on the Giants on their home turf. Pours a deep amber color and has a very malty flavor to it with a nice kick of hops afterwards. Good brew! pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 7, 2007 Bottle. Nice amber color. Slight metallic hints. Hoppy bitterness, but doesn’t last too long. First sip, a bit of a shock to the palate, then after that, it becomes much easier and more enjoyable to drink. No heavy or strong aftertaste. Flavor is there, but isn’t too overpowering. Pleasant. Hoppy goodness in every sip. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 4, 2007 Rich amber, mostly opaque pour. Good offwhite head. Nice hoppiness, with a touch of sweetness in the nose. Hoppier side for an amber, tastewise, and very pale ale like. Milds short lasting bitter hop aftertaste, but not that well balanced in my opinion. 1 is enough for me.
