AlabastorJones (762), San Francisco, California, USA Jan 21, 2008 so after tromping around san francisco for 20+ blocks we all had to piss real bad, i said ’the next bar we find were going into’, so we end up at this little hole in the wall bar that didn’t even have a sign (somewhat speak easy-esque) and as we all order out drinks we all find out that we all received free drinks, we had free drinks all night!! it was the first night this place opened and they were giving out free drinks all night as some sort of a promotional deal. my friends took full advantage, drinking top shelf liqour, i however stuck to this beer all night, i wasn;t able to fir as many in me as they were with the grey goose, but i’m not about to complain. black body wth a frothy brown head, Rich mocha nose and flavor, sweet chocolate malts, extremely roasty and warming, thick and divine. This is a very good stout, and thats coming from a former michigander and bell’s nerd. ou must try this stout. aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Mar 10, 2005 some malt derived bitterness with a very roasted body and an almost burnt wood touch to it. Cigar and tobacco nose with some hop presence. Good dry lightly acidic finish. lunaticharness (183), Roseville, Michigan, USA Jul 4, 2003 on tap at the toronado - very hoppy for a stout i thought, which was good in a sense it wasnt like drinking a cold glass of folgers it was spicy and chocolatey, very different, and very easy to drink jazz88 (2235), San Francisco, California, USA Aug 10, 2002 Tap. Roasted coffee and chocolate aroma. Big roasted flavor with a light body. joet (1699), Fulton, California, USA Aug 26, 2001 Lots of particulate, floral and vine nose which may be related. Folgers coffee flavors. Leaves an unfined coat on the glass you can taste. Shadallion (526), Sacramento, California, USA Aug 26, 2001 Flavorful and very hoppy for a stout, making it a nice session beer despite the surprisingly high abv (6.5%). Body is too watery, though. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA Mar 27, 2001 Rich and creamy, chocolate and toasted grains, with a bit of hops to boot, really a top notch brew, and the bottles are beautiful, and the beer is even better from a nice pint glass, along with the Tornado, my heart belongs San Francisco’s breweries!
