Nicely balanced in every way, with some hoppy spiciness that attacks and makes a home on your palate. The flavors all stand out, especially a bold maltiness that is ever present and never loses face. I love this brewery. This is my third sample from Speakeasy; and it has the very distinctive spicy/hoppy flavor of the other brews I’ve tried from there. This, in particular, strikes me as a watered-down (negative points) version of their truly excellent Prohibition Ale. Despite it not being quite on par with the Prohibition, this pale ale would makes for a pretty good year-round session brew. henry3r (586), Wichita, Kansas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 11, 2006 The bottle poured a slightly hazy (bottle conditioned) golden yellow beverage with a small smooth white head that was mostly diminishing and left good lacing on the glass. The aroma was well balanced leaning a bit toward the hop side. There was the notable presence of citrus (grapefruit and lemon) and there seemed to be notes of cherry in the background The body was light to medium with smooth carbonation and a watery texture. The flavor started off lightly bitter and this bitterness persisted throughout. The finish was average in length, slightly dry and bitter. jtw (944), farmington, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 29, 2005 from a bottle. wow, surprisingly hoppy! for whatever reason i wasn’t expecting much, but it had a very focused hops nose and a pretty good body. in fact, it was a little hoppier than i prefer an APA to be. overally a pretty solid beer, definitely won’t hesitate to have it again. mjg74 (2000), La Mesa, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 29, 2005 Bottled. Pours medium golden in color. Sweet mildly hoppy aroma. A little bit of bitterness. Middle of the road maltiness and just a little hop flavor. Easy to drink, just not much going on. Slight hoppy bitterness in the finish. mnurda (434), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 22, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours a light pale orange with thin white head. Sweet aroma with touches of grapefruits, oranges, and lemons. Surprisingly malty and not all that hoppy. A bit thin though. Below average pale ale. piscator34 (1134), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 3, 2005 Gold in colour with slightly below average carbonation. Good aromas of citrusy hops, some caramel, and some mild spice notes. A bit of caramel malt flavor too, but the palete is dominated by C-hops and black pepper like spices. The body is really weak though, being both watery and flabby at the same time. There was a bit of pepper burn, but no hop bitterness to clean things up.
