Crisp up front with great, pure ale flavor accimpanied by a very big malt backbone. The hops at the end are just perfect, both in amount and bitterness. All three Speakeasy beers I’ve had are at or near the top of their respective style lists, that really says a lot about the quality of this brewery - they’re right there with Hale’s and the Schelenkerla boys for the best in the business. Good hoppy, grapefruity nose. Crisp, hoppy taste with a nice grassy finish. Damn good pale ale. Would drink this again any day of the week. ipaderek99 (4), Mill Valley, California, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 13, 2002 Another Gem from speakeasy. Nice and crisp with assertive, but not overbearing bittering hops, great hoppy nose. Nice malt character with out much malty sweetness. This goes in the keg-a-rator as soon as the weather warms back up. beergrrl99 (1), USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 15, 2002 dkazuk (247), winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Pours a slightly hazy apple juice gold with a tall foamy cream head that sticks around. Not much lacing. Nose of roasted malts and caramel with a small hint of citrus hops. Medium bodied and leaves an almost sticky texture in the mouth but not in a cloying way. It’s interesting. Flavours are similar to nose. Sweetness followed by a citrusy hops and then finishes with a spot of bitterness, paired with some warm nutty and roasty flavours. Goes down easy and is very nice to savour. Another great beer from speakeasy. carlweathers (9), kildare, Ireland does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 27, 2009 bottle. Great mouthfeel, not as hoppy as the Big Daddy IPA but still a great kick. A well balanced tasty brew SiddFinch (154), Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, USA
