| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 20, 2008 Recently I’ve been enjoying wheat beers more than usual, so I thought I’d pick up a sixer of this...what a god damned aweful mistake that was. This beer just plain fucking sucks. Its fizzy to the point me burping out of all orifices with each sip. The beer tastes like watermelon bubblegum and definitely smells like, possible sugarfree bubblegum at that. What a waste of $10. I kind of developed clinical depression from all of this. oooh, that was a juicy fart. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 18, 2008 01-Jul-08 (12-oz bottle: Purchased 27-Jun-08 for $1.59 at the Pizza Port Bottle Shop in Carlsbad, CA) I know the "label" identifies this as an American-style wheat, not German or Belgian, but even still, this beer pours amazingly clear for a wheat beer. It’s golden-yellow in color with several streams of slowly rising carbonation bubbles. The snow-white head pours to less than half an inch and fades to a filmy layer within a minute. The unexpected aromas of wheat, spice and coriander betray the label and speak the true intention of the brewer, to produce a wheat beer with the flavor of Belgian white. Though seemingly missing the citrus peel component, the beer does offer a modest suggestion of lemons. Peppery spices and coriander are apparent, as is the sweet, bready character of the wheat and yeast. The beer finishes with a light bitterness that helps to break up the breadiness, but the combination isn’t especially pleasant on my palate. Medium in body and light-medium in carbonation, but while the peppery spiciness adds a bit of zest, the beer still finishes heavy and unrefreshing on the palate. It’s better than expected (since it’s not really an American-style wheat beer), but still not what I’d call enjoyable. Making the finish were less bitter and more refreshing would be a big improvement, as would cutting back a bit on the sweetness. Angeloregon (2036), Portland, Oregon, USA
