MiP (6019), Flensburg, Germany Sep 10, 2008 Bottle, 7.2%. Strangely sour ginger aroma. Muddy dark brown colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour is very malty, but overshadowed by a distinct citrus note, perhaps a little ginger. Very late (and surprising) roasted aftertaste. Strange, and a bit dodgy, but interesting and not bad. Some alcohol nose in the finish. FatPhil (2352), Espoo, Finland Aug 17, 2008 330ml bottle (Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam)
Slow lava gusher. Sour fruity and spicy aroma, too sour to please my nose. Very fizzy in the mouth, almost a mouth gusher. First taste is quite mouldy. Sourness too but mould dominates. Hops very zingy, and leave an excellent spiky finish. Was this off, or deliberate? Presuming the former. Ober (390), Best, Netherlands Apr 8, 2008 A dark red colored beer with a beige head. It disappers quickly. The aroma is spicey and some sweet. The taste is special, a little cardomon or rosemary, with some sweet of date. Not bad at all, a nice bock beer. pivnizub (3876), Porúří, Germany Mar 12, 2008 Bottle: Hazy, "dirty" amber coloured, quickly vanishing off-white foamy layer; sweet-spicy nose like cough-syrup (cinnamon, molasses, band-aid), a bit skunky; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; sweet, cough-syrup-like - can’t find a different word - finish, a bit warming, with a medical bitterness in the very end. Hardly drinkable irrigant.......... MoritzF (3883), Ruhrpott, Germany Jan 10, 2008 (33cl bottle) Hazy, ruby coloured hue with a short light-beige foamy head. Sweet and strong spicy nose with notes of anise, coriander and thyme on a lighter toast-malty background with caramel, chocolate and alcohol. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Toast-malty, slightly fruity (dried prunes, raisins) with caramel and again early arriving spicy accents; sweet, strong malty, slightly toasty and fruity finish with a lasting spicy (liquorice) and almost ethereal (thyme) aftertaste. A bit to spicy for my kind of taste, but anyway a well-done and interesting “Bock”.
