MoritzF (3690), Ruhrpott, Germany Jan 29, 2008 (33cl bottle) Hazy, reddish brown colour with a small off-white creamy head. Sweet, slightly toasty and berry fruity nose with a strong load of spices (anise, coriander, phenols). Bitter-sweet flavour, strong body impression with a smooth mouthfeel. Toast-malty, slightly fruity taste with an almost raw spice-character, especially towards the finish that drowns everything else out, except for alcohol and some toasty and subtle fruity notes at the very end. Still drinkable (29.01.08). epassa (105), Sao Paulo, Brazil Nov 6, 2007 Deep dark Brown color, medium head. Aroma: Hops, citrus, roasted barley, chocolate, vanilla. Palate: Toast, vanilla, chocolate, light sweet, little bitter. MiP (4843), Flensburg, Germany Oct 14, 2007 Bottle, 6%. Nicely roasted aroma with a hint of cream and fruit. Very dark brown colour, hint of red, seems clear. Small stable light brown head. Coffee flavour, slightly sweet with a little cardboard. Finishes sweet and fruity. rauchbier (2860), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Feb 1, 2004 Tap. `t Arendsnest Jan 2004. Red bronze, moderate white head and moderate condition. Good citrus and pine hop aromas, good level of hop flavours in the mouth with some background roasted barley notes that become more apparent in the finish, although not enough to mask the creamy hop bitterness.
