harrisoni (5331), Ashford, Kent, England Nov 10, 2006 Cask handpull at Spinnaker’s, Victoria. Black with red edges. Lasting tan head. Liquorice tarry stout, some choc, little bit of smoke, smooth in mouth leads to a molasses dryness on end. Some smokey charcoal, nice, but again lacks a bit of depth. Nice enough Crit (2242), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Jun 14, 2006 Black, nice tan head. Light espresso nose.Sweet roasty profile, bitterness from the roast in the finish joss (3134), Garching b. München, Germany Jun 11, 2006 Handpump - sold as black stout. Very dark, nice brown lacing head.
Light roast and chocolate aroma. Good chewyness, lightish body.
Fine oaty, light burned toast and chocolate flavors. Chocolate lingers on in the aftertaste. Very nice easy drinkable stout. Oakes (6966), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 30, 2006 Sampled as Blackstout. Dark brown colour. Light roasty, chocolatey aroma. The flavour is similar with a light roasty bitterness and fairly sweet back note. Simple stout, but not bad. acrdz (4361), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 5, 2005 Draft at the brewery
Dark brown with some red and brown light at the edges of the glass. Pale and sour coffee nose, smoky I guess. Has the dry part of the dry stout down pat: very airy, dry and dusty malt scent and flavor. Some chewy bourbon and pasty porter-like maple and wood flavors in the long finish. Very strange finish I would say, which makes this one different enough to be interesting.
