joss (3138), Garching b. München, Germany Apr 3, 2008 Vintage bottle@Spinnakers, thanks to the brewer for getting all the gems out! Very light cherry aroma.
Red amber, low head.
Light minerally cherry notes.
Light tart.
Not as interesting as the razz I thought. Sammy (3135), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 25, 2008 Fizzy carboantion. Very artificial cherry.
I agree its a soft drink. The least liked of the three fruit beers. I am getting little yeast here. Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Dec 10, 2007 Sampled from 1 yr old bottle at brewpub Dec 2007. Pours deep red color but little to no head. Not as aromatic as expected, but still pleasantly fruity with marachino-like qualities. Quite nice flavor-wise: not too sweet. Clean with a lot of natural cherry flavors. Cheery pit flavors noticable too, giving it some complexity and taking the beer to a drier and slightly bitter level. Soft and creamy mouthfeel. Oakes (6973), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Dec 10, 2007 Light red-tinged brown. Rich cherry nose with brown sugary malts. I never had it fresh, but after a year in the bottle this is very well-balanced. It’s the least fruit-forward of the three, with a great dark malt character (yes, it’s based on a tripel but a year in the bottle brings out an almost muscovado-like caramelized note). Overtop of this sits the candyish, fruity cherry. Mmm. tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Oct 17, 2007 Soured cherries over very pastry dough in the nose. Hazy brown body is topped by a fizzy, fully diminishing head. Flavour is very sour with a sugar-like, juicy sweetness in the aftertaste. Strong hard pointy carbonation yet body is pretty lifeless. I guess this one just didn’t last well at all. Oh well. Better luck next time. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (Gift, Jul-07). Thanks, CapFlu.
