| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 14, 2009 I made these notes whilst sitting at the bar in Spinnakers, so no doubt this was a VERY fresh stout. This arrived with a smallish head and a dark dark drak body. The aroma was not overpowering, and featured roasted malts with an undertone of burnt coffee. The taste was just damned good, with the malts, coffee, and some dark chocolate as well. Mouthfeel was smoooooooth, with an "average" thickness to go along with a bit of sweetness at the finish. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 2, 2008 Huge head, but more bubbles than thick foam. Almost no aroma at all. An odd imperial, very low alcohol taste. Strong malt with constrained bitterness. A fake cherry taste kicks in during the aftertaste. Something odd about this one but I still liked it. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 13, 2007 The mouthfeel on this stout is ideally smooth and silken. Could use a body boost, as we expect it to taste bigger. Not tantalizing but it delivers. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 18, 2006 Bottle. Small eggshell head sits atop a dark brown body. Cookie doughish aroma, yeasty and cheesy. Thinnish body that is caramel malt oriented. Flavour breaks apart at the end with the introduction of cardboard notes. Meh. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Nov 16, 2006 Pours looking like flat cola, with just a thin ring of mocha froth, and slight dusting. Mild coffee aromas play the main role, with dark chocolate, some raisin, and subtle hopping with pretty mild roasty-ness. FLavours are pretty nutty, with lots of roasty chocolatey bitterness. Fruit flavours follow, lead into the finish. Dry as anything, with an unacceptable watery finish. The second BC stout lately to be really watery. Thanks for getting this rarity Dr. Hyde. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 5, 2006 Dark clear brown to black overflowing from bottle upon opening. Thin moka head. Rather faint spicey aroma, chocolatey, but a bit off. In mouth, a thin stout, with light chocolate notes, more reminiscent of a schwarzbier, thin and boring, and off.
