JagerQueen (123), Shoreline, Washington, USA Jun 14, 2004 Light red in color, cinnamon tint, mahogany ruby almost. No head, not bubbly or fizy, very pelucid. Aroma is very sour and faint but has some artificial spice sweetness. Flavor is surprisingly tasty, almost like a candy or caramel apple. Finishes a little watery, bland. Overall this is a very good session cider.
jcwattsrugger (4045), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Nov 13, 2007 12oz bottle-pours a ? head and copper color. Aroma is apple, hint of cherry, some vinuous/vegetal. Taste is nice apple cider, malt. OK effervescence. JoeM500 (1877), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2007 Pint, on draft at Henry’s in Portland. After a heavy meal, this was chosen for dessert. A very pale color with no head showing as it was served. Nose was spicy and sweet, like grandma’s apple pie. Served near room temp and completely carbonation free, I wondered if this was served from a barrel, cask style, real ale stye... not sure how cider is normally served. The body was lush, sweet and heavy with flavor. No hint that this was an alocoholic beverage. Every sip was a playful mix of taffy apple and cinnamon. Interesting and makes a decent dessert! Skyview (2901), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 13, 2007 Seventh stop during the ABA Beer Tour ’07 in Olympia, Washington. Sampled on tap at the Fish Tale brewpub as "Spire Dry & Dark Cider." Pours a clear golden amber color that has a foamy white ring. Aroma more complex than Spire’s two regular ciders. Characters of tart apples, some cinnamon, brown sugar and some caramel. Taste is more of a wine cooler than a draft cider. Flavors include brown sugar and sweet apples. Finish is sweet with more apple aftertaste. This is their best cider. after4ever (1752), Brier, Washington, USA May 29, 2007 12-oz. Pours a pale gold--champagne color, I suppose you might say, if you worked in their marketing department. Huge refined sugar nose, a bit of apple thrown in. My cynical side wants to say the apple flavor probably came with the sugar, in a little packet. Tangy, almost tangerine-like notes join the apple on the mid-palate. Nice light body, effervescent carb. Too sweet by half for me, but this is reasonably well done. skoisirius (480), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 27, 2006 12 oz bottle. Light red color in general. Aroma is very much on the sweet side containing cinnamon spice, tart apples, and hints of sugar (candy apples). Flavor is actually very tasteful on the palate! Not really carbonated at all, very smooth. Apples hit the tongue while bringing a nice and light spicey note along with it. Hints of caramel apples comes in near the end of the palate which then moves into somewhat of a thin finish. Really refreshing on a hot day!! I’m not a huge cider fan...but I think I’ve found a secret poison for myself!
