| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 22, 2009 The aroma, not surprisingly, is dominated by pepper though there is a rich smokiness as well giving an overall smell of what I can only decribe as Steak Diane. The flavour is an overload of pepper; like eating a whole peppercorn. Nice idea, but a bit off the mark. albertane (376), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2008 Bottle from Red Zebra in Derby. This beer is so black it is opaque. Unsurprisingly, the flavour and aroma are dominated by pepper. It is an extremely rich, chewy, meaty beer. You would not want too many of these in one go. leaparsons (4748), Leicester, Leicestershire, England

Aromas are coffee and earthy roast malts with floral notes and lots of grapefruit. Smoky and woody with an almost rauchbier smokiness. Flavours are roast malts with floral notes. Sharp grapefruit bitterness. Some berry fruit. Peppery at the back of the throat. Very peppery on the finish. DruncanVeasey (2753), The Penguin’s Arms, Europe, Warwickshire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2008 Opening beer at the Inaugural Knickersby Fest 08. Pitch with tan halo. Bovril snout with nutty vegetal notes, freshly sliced red chilli, liquorice, more Bovril, roast. Sprinkle of pepper burn, big liquorice and Marmite saltiness approaching the Baltic, peppercorn sauce, plenty of roasted malt. Just the right balance of pepper and roast without descending into novelty beer territory.Lingers pleasantly with smoke. Strange and tasty. Magicdave6 (5558), London, Greater London, England

Alround rating: This was apparently like a super peppered up vertion of the normal. Aroma is meaty and super peppery, like roasted malts cooked with just pepper, floural hops try to sneak in, but its all about the insane pepper character. The aroma is oatmeal and slightly pork sausage like/sausage role. The flavour is bitter, spiced , burn’t and peppery which makes the drink hot to the back of the throat. Overall a weird beer.
