This beer poured a dark brown color but truly had hints of magenta red in which you could see slightly through it...which sort of scared me from the start. A tiny tan head was produced but quickly dissipated. The aroma was cocoa and coffee with a slight hint of chocolate....a very typical nose, but somewhat light in the smell. The taste was very weak, watered down almost. Some hints of cardboardy chocolate and cocoa, but really nothing interesting going on at all! Almost a plastic quality to the cocoa...very thin mouthfeel, no carbonation, somewhat disappointing...it had a slight milky rancidness to it that just wouldnt go away. Thank you and next please..... | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 14, 2004 This stout pours with a dark brown to black body with red tinting topped by a thin head with no lacing. The aroma is bitter, roasty and malty with vanilla notes and a touch of alcohol. Sweet notes show after a few sniffs. The flavor is slighlty sweet yet sour to start but turns bitter and roasty. Full bodied, smooth and dry.
