Reddish brown and slightly hazy but not extremely dark. No head. Smells pretty good, no off aroma at all and it comes across as friendly to the olfactory. Hints of smelly sweetness. Has some hops in there but the taste is not overwhelmingly bitter at all. Starts out like its going to come on strong then it fades to a more mellow brew. Decent carbonation. Instead of building, the hops seem to fade thru the session and into the sunsetting horizon. Finish is pretty well behaved and easy to take. Has a finish somewhat like many lagers with personality. Interesting beer. Starts out like its an IPA, rather intense, so you get a slight hop bite but then it evolves into a milder, more appreciative beer with manners. hodgey1 (9), Edinboro, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 30, 2008 As I am not an expert at rating beer, I am an expert at tasting beer. The hop aroma and flavor of this beer is awesome, nice citrus hop flavor. By far my favorite Sprague Farm brew. Great color and alcohol level.
