Commercial Description:
We started with a Trappist Triple yeast culture and carefully blended Belgian pale barley malt with traditional malted wheat and oats to produce a delectable golden ale. This special brew is aged 12 weeks creating a fruity nad refined taste with a huge bouqet, light body, and a very smooth, non-bitter finish. Best served at 55 degrees F.

16 oz. bottle. new label ...as it is very much the same flavor as last btl... pours a rich straw yellow color with an appropriate white, somewhat low frothy head. Aroma of subtle lite sugar, and banana. Starts refreshingly sweet. undertones of sweet nectar and lends its way to the faint pepper and crisp dry smooth finisshhh.....was lucky to get a well package and fresh product...

Duvel tulip. Amber color with a short lived head. Aroma is butterscotch, mildly vegetal, with caramel malt, and some pepper and spice. Taste is caramel covered apples, sweet malt, yeast, vanilla, mild to moderate hot alcohol, lemon, and spice. Full mouthfeel. Too sweet throughout, maybe a small belgian barleywine?

Bottle (500ml). Clear amber, small diminishing fizzy white head (3-). Aroma of light yeast, moderate alcohol, weak sweet fruity malt - gets sweeter as it warms. The taste is a little too booze-dominated - there’s just not enough fruit/malt body to overcome the alcohol ... not really much hop character to it. Watery, sticky body, not much carbonation, quick flavour finish but the alcohol lingers a bit.

bomber purchased at Julio’s. Hazy amber in color, I was hoping it would be a bit lighter in color. Aroma is sweet caramel, a bit too much with some fruity esters. Taste is sweet caramel, seems quite a bit underattenuated for the style, with banana esters and light phenols. certainly drinkable, but could use some work.

From bottle acquired in MN. A Belgian from a WI German style brewery? I gotta try this. Odd that there’s a twist off bottle under all of that wax. Force carbonated, not bottle conditioned. A little darker than a typical tripel - style geeks would ding ’em for this. Thin head that melted away very quickly. Smellled a little bit like Belgian Wit yeast. A little more sweet than I want in my tripel, but a very tasty beer indeed. A nice lower mash temp might help dry it up a bit. Splitting the bottle was a perfect call.

Bottle. Aroma instantly screams Sprecher: sticky, sweet, caramel. Fairly flat carbonation. Mildly sweet on the palate, but no where near the complexity I look for in a Tripel. Finishes sulphery and yeasty.

A good Belgian white, though far from spectacular. A mildly floral nose with some light sugary notes in the background. The palate is smooth with a nice, carbonated bite. Tastes of citrus and honey mingling with malt and an undertaste of oats. A good brew for a hot day, though.
