The color hints at a full-bodied beer, but this is more medium-bodied than similar looking ales. But the aroma and tastes of coffee, roasted malt, and even a hint of chocolate remind me more of a porter than any lager I’ve ever tasted. This is a surprisingly good beer. fishingnet (1047), Brandon, Florida, USA

Pours a clear very dark brown with ruby highlights and a large long lasting rocky tan head that leaves great lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and caramel. Taste is coffee, roasted malt, and light caramel. Medium full body with a well balanced bitterness. Heavy for a Schwarzbier and more like a full flavored Porter but still very good. harrisoni (6946), Ashford, Kent, England

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2007 This beer came in my beer club - I am not familiar with the brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bark black color with a large dark brown head. The aroma was roasty and bitter with a floral hop presence and a hint of coffee. The flavor was roasty, bitter and had a light coffee element. The finish was long and bitter. Soonah (970), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 10, 2007 Poured dark brown with plenty of ruby highlights. The head was tan, compact and somewhat creamy. Some lacing. The aroma was lots of smoky, roasted malt. Some thin chocolate. Coffee too. The flavor was smoky malt and coffee. A somewhat succinct finish. Fairly heavy body for a schwarzbier. MrBendo (1044), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

Flavor is roasted dark malt, a little chocolate and a bit of smoke. Moderately sweet with a light, bitter note. Medium body. Amazingly easy to drink. Well done. jbrus (4895), Delft, Netherlands

Nearly black, light brown head, good lace. Loads of sweet coffee. Smooth, light sandy, full. Great and well balanced porter if you’d ask me and not a schwarzbier.
