Commercial Description:
This intensely dark Kulmbacher style lager has a superb malt complexity with the distinctive flavors and aromas of coffee, caramel and chocolate. A renowned smoothness and a creamy, tan head make it an all-time brewery favorite.

16 fl bottle. Black color with small tan head. Malty and roasted aroma with toffee and bitter chocolade. Good malty flavor with dry roastedness, coffee and toffee. Dry finish with bitter chocolade, coffee and fruity bitterness. Very balaced with excellent maltiness.

I love this beer. Dark. A lot going on in your mouth, rich. Good aftertaste. Caramel. Hint of burnt sugar.

16 ounce bottle from ogglethorp; Bonus from my want list! Nose of faint coffee, yeast, and a little cocoa; opaque ebony with a medium tan head; Flavors (all light) of coffee, chocolate, mild hop bitterness, and caramel emanted from the medium body and the hops lasted into a weakly bitter finish. I agrre it is a great Schwarzbier!

This Schwarzbier or dark Kulmbacher style lager is apparently not a style I care for. I like even light body stouts but this is too sweet, sour, bland for me. JUst too malt centric for my liking. Mouth feel was a turn off and lingering aftertaste was off putting. The closest thing I’ve tried that is similar is Capitals Munich Dark and I like that.

Thanks to my Secret Santa for this one. Lots of Dark brown head on this black beer. Aromas were faint, but roasty. Flavors were better, with some coffee and chocolate. Pretty good.

pours a lighter black with a one finger brown head. aroma is malt and a little hops, head does not last long though. flavor is a nice smooth malt with some hops and a little coffee. light to medium body with a little lacing. has some nice carbonation to smooth everything out. little sweet tasting and a little roastiness taste and aroma when it warms. very nice schwarzbier the best ranked and ONE of the best i ever had.

I dare someone to find a better version of this beer. If you do please let me know so that I may try some. My drink of choice but finding now that I relocated to So Cal has been difficult.

Dark color. Smell of sugar, malt, chocolate, caramel, toffee, bread and smoke. Tastes very sweet, with berries, roasted malt, rye, sugar cane, coffee and toffee. Very interesting beer. I will have more!
