Nose of faint coffee, yeast, and a little cocoa; opaque ebony with a medium tan head; Flavors (all light) of coffee, chocolate, mild hop bitterness, and caramel emanted from the medium body and the hops lasted into a weakly bitter finish. I agrre it is a great Schwarzbier! chimpscampee (566), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Dec 26, 2006 This Schwarzbier or dark Kulmbacher style lager is apparently not a style I care for. I like even light body stouts but this is too sweet, sour, bland for me. JUst too malt centric for my liking. Mouth feel was a turn off and lingering aftertaste was off putting. The closest thing I’ve tried that is similar is Capitals Munich Dark and I like that. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

Aromas were faint, but roasty. Flavors were better, with some coffee and chocolate. Pretty good. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA
