Poured deep ruby-brown with an average foamy-creamy-sticky lasting tan head. Mild, subtle, appealing roast, hop and lightly fruity aroma, dry and toasty. Taste is dark molasses-sweet, with coffee, chocolate, yeast, roast malt, prune, raisin and plum fruitiness, detectable hops too - nice balance of bitter and sweet. Mouthfeel is only lightly carbonated, a little watery, and mildly acidic - really, this is an excellent schwarzbier, the roastiness intensifies as it warms - I’d have it again in a shot - thanks for this one, Ughsmash! ecbeerguy (86), East Chicago, Indiana, USA

Opens with a dark, almost opaque pour, sporting a thin, slightly watered mocha head of medium sized bubbles. Mild roasty aromas, light coffee bean, molasses, and milk chocolate. Flavours are much of the same. Roasty, chocolate, with a mild fruity sweetness. Smooth finish, lingering fruit and coffee flavours. A good session schwarz, if there is one. Thanks so much Phil! As a side note, I have heard that if you put some spring water in this one, it will bring it down to about 4% ABV, and it will then seem like a mild stout. I’ll have to try it. brentfeesh (1039), Gadsden, Alabama, USA

Sweet burnt caramel and roasted malts in the aroma, as well as hints of black pat molasses. Roasted malt taste and decent carbonation. Nothing to be overly excited about, but this rather dull taste leads to a wonderful lingering finish with dark chocolate, roasted malt, & light hops with a metallic hint. Medium body with a slick/sticky mouth feel. This one just did not do it for me as much as other schwarzbier. I wonder if I just wasn’t in the mood...Perhaps I’ll try it again one day. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA

Black ruby hued lager having a small tan head. Soft carbonation. Corn/nutty aroma. Full bodied lager that starts with light malt sweetness and dried prune/roasted malt flavors. Finishes dry with roasted malt/ bitterness fade. Full of roast malt flavors and intensely flavorful. Smooth, creamy, and immense beer.
