Flavors have some nice chocolate tones that go back and forth to coffee. A creamy milk chocolate. Full malt backing adds to the complexity.
Mouth is nicely carbinated with a medium to full mouth. Medium length sticky finish. Mild bitterness. Great schwarzbier. Plenty of full flavor. robinvboyer (1440), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 15, 2009 Pours a very deep reddish blackish sort of color with a big smei loose tan head and plenty o’ lace. The smell is intense with moleasses and just a little coffee. Ther e is a nice bitter hoppiness to this as well wich pairs well with an intense roasy almost burnt flavor rounded with a nuttiness. Pretty nice a little more complex and a hell of a lot less fruity than I remember from the last time I drank this. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 8, 2009 bottle - Pours very dark brown with a one finger tan head. It has a roast malt aroma with a small hint of chocolate. Flavor is sweet roast malt with some chocolate notes up front and a lightly hopped finish that balances it out nicely. Light to medium bodied with ample carbonation, it’s a good quaff. jb (1056), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 27, 2009 Coming out of the bottle, this beer instantly captured my attention, man it was good looking. Black, no real highlights, thick tan head, small tight bubbles, nice retention. Roasted, and chocolate in the nose. Yup a little coffee too. Decent palate with a sharp start and nutty toasted end, also caramel. A bit watery in the palate but to be expected in this style. Very very good, I’m guessing best schwarzbier I’ve had. thejon375 (392), Tampa, Florida, USA
