Aroma of some light vinous fruits, some dark chocolate, a bit of roastiness, somewhat restrained. Taste is lightly sweet with notes of dark fruits and some light roasty character. Some watered down coffee in the flavor. Body feels a little thin. Not sure if I’ve held on to it too long, but it feels a bit skeletal. Perhaps I’m expecting too much from a schwarzbier.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 6, 2009 16oz bottle, surprised at the size. A black beer with a large tan head. The aroma is not super strong, but still very nice- malty chocolate, caramel, and sweet. The flavor is roasty, some sort of sour flavor, caramel, and also sweet chocolate. Nice creamy feel. Impressed, did not expect much from this brewer. KYackley (33), , Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 6, 2009 Pours "intensely dark" with almost no head. Smell like burnt malty chocolate. Tastes just like it smells, only better. Creamy goodness. It is really quite drinkable for being so "intensely dark." Good stuff... BrianDorry55 (117), Spring Hill, Florida, USA

Like the 16 oz. bottles too...a little different. LilBeerDoctor (1508), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a small light tan head. Aroma of rich bready malt and roasted lager malts with a slight hint of chocolate. Flavor is quite similar, with a smooth palate. Some vegetal notes with a sweet finish. Not as roasty as some schwarzbiers are and its malt character reminds me more of a doppelbock. A nice beer.
