Commercial Description:
Barley Wine Ale is a legendary top-fermented brew with a deep amber/orange color, and intense fruit and malt nose that is laced with alcohol accented by the sweet aromas of Port. This "wine" made with barley is brewed with a French yeast culture, and possesses a complex flavor of rich malt, fruit esters, and sherry-like qualities that is delicately balanced with hops.

Cloudy amber colour with a beige head. Sweet malty aroma with overripe fruity notes and a misplaced acidic note. Quite sour and infected flavor.

(Bottle 100 cl) Courtesy of Skyview. Hazy amber golden with a beige head. Distict aroma of oak and vanilla. Medium body with notes of caramel, wood and vanilla with everything being overpowered by a very distinct sourness. Subdued bitterness. Wauw, amazing how a Barley Wine this strong can end up with an infection this bad. But still enough interesting parts to enjoy in this although the sourness is impossible to ignore. 260708

Bottled - tasted blind. A hazy amber beer with a thin lazing orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and over ripe fruits, but also a hint of acidity. The flavor is sweet amlty with notes of caramel as well as an acidic tart horseblanket note. How can a BW turn out like this?

1 L Bottle from tytoanderso; Nose of caramel, dark fruit, and toffee; clesr cherry-rust colored with a big, glass-lacing, straw head; flavor of brown sugar, raisins, and vanilla; finish is light alcohol warmth. Much better than their BB Impy Stout!
