BVery (446), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Jun 21, 2009 BOTTLE: brown pour, bourbon and vanilla dominate. Good stuff. Paired it with roasted almonds, which was awesome. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Mar 16, 2009 Cobalt colored flip-top bottle from the Binny’s in Plainfield, IL: This pours a deep mahogany body with ruby highlights and a thick tan head. It has an aroma of Bourbon, old wood, sweet dark malt, vanilla, and alcohol. It’s very warm with alcohol on the tongue, a bit peppery. It tastes of Bourbon, sweet caramel, alcohol, oak, vanilla, and a hint of chocolate. An astringent hit near the finish detracts somewhat, but over all it’s not a bad brew. Too expensive for more than one buy, tho’. drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Jan 12, 2009 Lots of vanilla. And lots, lots, lots of bourbon flavor. Goes well with the bock, but probably to the extend that you forget that it’s a bock. Hides the bock. CanIHave4Beers (833), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jan 10, 2009 From notes at a tasting a couple of months back.
Pours a deep clear brown.
Smells of sweet roasty malt and a little bourbon/oak nicley worked into the background. Pours with almost no head and hence very little retention. This is at first almost unforgivabally sweet, but then it is not overbearing. Possibly one of the better sweet beers I have had. Flavors of chocolate and a little bourbon. The Palate is outstanding here very silky and well rounded. DalzAle (474), Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA Dec 21, 2008 Flat brown pour with no carbonation; smoky alcohol aroma. Flavor was a little vanilla, smoke and bourbon aftertaste. Almost like a very weak liquor, rather than a beer. Ok, but not worth the money in my opinion. GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 1, 2008 Thanks to Redlight for the taste. Pours a clear port wine color. Smells of toasted malts and figs. Tastes like toasted marshmallows and more dried dark fruits. Thin mouthfeel. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Nov 19, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. About what expected when I heard a dopple was bourbonized. Came highly recommended by the beermo at 3 cellars. Bourbon is very apparent and it gives a very dry finish. It’s aight. boto (1319), Granby, Connecticut, USA Oct 4, 2008 750ml bottle: This one pours a fairly clear, reddish brown color. There was a "pop" when I opened the bottle, but hardly any head on the pour and what was there went away almost immediately. I was surprised that the aroma was a bit light. It was still good, however with notes of bourbon, malt and fruit. The bourbon and the malt compete to be on top, but the bourbon is the main flavor in the finish. Some dark fruits also. I really like this, but I like bourbon also. If bourbon isn’t your thing, this won’t be your beer.
