| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 21, 2008 Rich malty melanoidins, followed quickly by sensual bourbon teasers, and as it warms some oak comes shining through. Taste comes out a little raw, very woody ,slightly sour bourbon mash, totaly overpowering any malt sweetness, a little harsh,I’m guessing these just weren’t good barrels. The mix was only ok,but the whiskey just didn’t mix that well with the malts jcwattsrugger (5581), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Aroma is dark malt-chocolate/licorice, some acidic. Taste is dark malt-chocolate/licorice, some acidic, dark fruit, oak. Thin finish. Not to style for my taste, comes across as an ale-Imperial Stout. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 6, 2008 Nice large frothy light brown head of varying sized bubbles. Light bourbon in the aroma with lots of sweet malts, slight fruity tartness also. Sweet and malty like a good dopple should be. Color is a nice chocolaty brown with a hint of red around the edges. Hmmm, body and flavor is a bit thinner than expected. Some chocolaty malts, toffee, hint of tartness again. Kind of vinuous tartness. Very feint bourbon flavor. I guess kind of an oaky bourbon. Finishes warm and malty with a hint of zippy tartness. A decent brew but I really expected more than this. adrian910ss (1435), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
