Mar 1, 2009 Bottle handed to me by Dmac, thanks Dave (Gary), who then said this is horrible. Well here we go, obvious black body with a tan head. A horrible balance of soy maple bourbon and some woodiness. Vanilla vegetative and astringent. Yes Dave, it does suck.

Feb 25, 2009 Bottle thanks to dmac I think for sharing? Actually no thanks. This beer is pretty terrible. Bomber. Pours a deep dark cola color with a thin fizzy diminishing head to almsot nothing. Aroma is a bit boozy- with somecaramelized fruits, bourbon, and intense vanilla oak. Flavor had a bit of vegetal dms, with more over the top bourbon totally masking all malts and roastiness, with much more vanilla and oakiness to make sure everythign is over the top. Mouthfeel ended up thin, tannic and astringent. meh.

Dec 31, 2008 1 L bottle. Pours a pitch black body with a nice creamy brown head. Excellent retention for such a big beer. Big roasty bourbon nose with some light oak, light alcohol, and bakers chocolate. A lot of chocolate and roast up front with some Hershey’s syrup and vanilla extract, a little oakiness. On the sweeter side with just minimal alcohol. The mouthfeel is very smooth and velvety with great relaxed carbonation. Pretty nice beer, actually really smooth and drinkable for such a big beer. Methinks that this is a tad under rated.

Sep 29, 2008 Tasting At Three Cellars. Sweet and good smooth oak like hint. Not real sure it woth the cost but it is good.

Sep 22, 2008 Getting the notebook online. Bottle, Spring 2007 batch. Pours a brown black with a slight tan head. Bourbon takes over the nose. Sips sweet at first with burnt malt flavors then turns oak from the barrels, and finishes with strong bourbon flavors. Lots of burnt smoke on the aftertaste. A very pleasant and enjoyable beer.

Aug 28, 2008 Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, Jerc, Mabel, and GregClow, Harry’s ’07 bottle. Very dark brown, no head. Nice bourbon aroma. Good taste - tons of bourbon which wears thin after a while. The body is too thin to hold all of this flavour and alcohol though, so it becomes overwhelming after a while. Good, but good have been much better.

Aug 13, 2008 [1523-20080711] 1L bottle. Dark figgy sweet-roasted malt aroma. Black body with quick creamy tan bubbles. Roasted wooden boozy malt flavour. Full body has a sour tang. Rather enjoyable.
