Commercial Description:
Imperial Stout has been complemented by a generous bourbon flavor after aging five extra weeks in white oak bourbon barrels. Already saturated with dark roasted malt flavor, bourbon and oak highlights perfect the balance in this enormously rich ale.

1 L bottle. Pours black with a big cascading tan head. Aroma of chocolate malt, smoke, bourbon, leather, oak, and caramel. A shockingly thinnish mouthfeel for an Imperial. Taste is nice; good bittersweet chocolate and coffee flavors with a strong, but not overwhelming bourbon sourness. Some vanilla, caramel, oak, and earthy flavors that pop out at different times. Overall, I really enjoyed this beer.

Pours deep black with notes of choclate, vanilla bean, charred oak, and oddly a smoke meat smell. The moderate bodied flavoirs all become pronounced on the palate. The finish is long and hides the ABV pretty well.

2007 Bottle labled 11%alc. Pours black with a small tan head that fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, caramel, and a hint of oak. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium bodied with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness and warm alcohol finish. Good.

1 L Bottle from tytoanderso; Nose of smoke, tobacco, roastiness, and chocolate; opaque black with a medium cinnamon tan head; flavor has bourbon, light sourness, with some chocolate and oak. I don’t think it is a brett beer so it must be lightly infected, doen’t taste that good.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a small tan head. Coffee, bourbon, chocolate, oak aroma. Chocolate, bourbon, brown sugar, oak flavors that aren’t as complex as I’d like to see, though still good. Medium body and would like to see a bit fuller. LIngering bourbon, coffee, molasses with a bit of citrus malt. Decent, but want more out of it.

750ml bottle. Pours a dark black with a fleeting but billowy coffee-colored head. Aroma is sweet and full with notes of molasses, brown sugar, coffee, chocolate, and a subtle alcoholic bite. Taste is medium bodied and smooth with a bold chocolate and roasted malt flavor opening up into a crisper finish that’s part brown liquor and part hoppy citrus. Not as overwhelmingly boozy as other bourbon barrel brews, but also not quite as full or complex.

A full bodied pour with a dark brown hue and strong head. The initial aroma seems light, even weak for such a hefty beer, but the flavor is nothing short of electric - smoke, toffee, chocolate, cola, and even a hint of fruit - comes in waves across the palate with a long lasting finish that leaves your tastebuds wanting more. Serve somewhat chilled for dessert with homemade vanilla ice cream.
