Commercial Description:
Imperial Stout has been complemented by a generous bourbon flavor after aging five extra weeks in white oak bourbon barrels. Already saturated with dark roasted malt flavor, bourbon and oak highlights perfect the balance in this enormously rich ale.

C-Bus 9 shared by bgburdman: Bottle: Pours black with a loose tan head. Aroma, oaky, bourbon, chocolate, and some fruits. Flavor, thin chocolaty, earthy and really not that enjoyable.

1 liter bottle. Poured a dark black color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of oaky wood, light vanilla, chocolate, roast, and bourbon. Tastes of wood, vanilla, bourbon, dark chocolate, and caramel. Alcohol content hidden. Easy to drink to this one.

Moderately thick pour to an opaque and midnight muddy brown. Sawdust tops it off. Nose dives deep into broiled butterscotch, singed bourbony oak, caramel laced dark chocolate truffles and mocha fudge rippled with Godiva liquor. Deep stuff. Flavor affirms a prominent, balanced blend of sweet bourbon strife. Fudgie mocha morsels melt in the mouth while the bourbon sweetens its sprig. Caramel ribbons ride through French silk talc and white mocha fudge. Cocoa powder patters into the balanced delicatessen blend. Medium to fuller bodied, carefully carbonated and ever the balanced beer. Sweet milk chocolate goop cradles the sides of the oak cask as bourbon lurks at the bottom with a smooth, chocolaty milk finish.

Courtesy boboski. Very deep, dask brownish-black color. Aroma is dried cherries, treacle, a touch of vanilla and oak, slight chocolate and alcohol. Bourbon aroma is very evident. Mouthfell is almowst chewy, very big beer. Moderately roasted and bitter, the bourbon blast is very evident, not a bashful beer.

Courtesy boboski. Pours a severe dark brown color with a thin sparse dark khaki head. Strong aroma - alcohol, roast, bourbon. Flush of bourbon with a light roast undertow. A helping of alcohol and spicy malt in the finish. Strong flavors, little nuance or subtletly.

Bottle courtesy of kingpinIPA. Beautiful pour w/ a dark tan head. Bourbon, oak, and chocolate nose. Mouthfeel is a little watered-down. A little bit heavier mouthfeel and this is near perfect. Nice balance of vanilla, coconut, bourbon, oak, and chocolate flavors. Very good.

Bottle hinged top from River’s Bend. Poured a dark brown color with a moderate frothy brown head that mostly lasted and produced sticky legs and good lacing. Good dark chocolate malt and sweet woody bourbon aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture. Complex dark chocolate stout flavor with a smooth bourbon woody bittersweet finish of long duration. Very well balanced barrel stout.

Sprecher Czar Brew ~Russian Imperial Stout Aged in Oak Bourbon Barrels

Liters Bottled: 1200
Bottled: Spring 2007

9/05/2007: Sprecher Czar Brew is a rich, complex, well-balanced, and beautifully crafted barrel-aged beer. It is near black in color and quite opaque with a rich tan/brown head. Chocolate, vanilla, caramelized malt, sweet licorice, smooth bourbon, and a hint of oak can all be found in the truly wonderful and inviting aroma. The flavor definitely delivers that the aroma promised. It is malty and dark with great flavors that include chocolate, nice smooth chocolate bourbon, rich caramalized malt, and hints of licorice and barrek char. The alcohol is well-contained amongst the river of flavors of this medium-full to full-bodied brew. The texture is smooth and creamy on the palate. This beer is so easy to drink that it’s scary!

1 liter bottle (11.0% Alc. by Vol.) shared by Tmoney99. Thank you very much Tom. I really appreciate it! Rating #26 for this beer...
