Commercial Description:
Imperial Stout has been complemented by a generous bourbon flavor after aging five extra weeks in white oak bourbon barrels. Already saturated with dark roasted malt flavor, bourbon and oak highlights perfect the balance in this enormously rich ale.

Thanks to Joebrew for sharing this gem. 1 liter flip top bottle, just like their other bourbon barrel releases. Excellent dark brown body almost black. Faint brown head. Excellent bourbon and roasted malt nose. Similar body with hints of chocolate.

Bottle courtesy of kingpinIPA. Beautiful pour w/ a dark tan head. Bourbon, oak, and chocolate nose. Mouthfeel is a little watered-down. A little bit heavier mouthfeel and this is near perfect. Nice balance of vanilla, coconut, bourbon, oak, and chocolate flavors. Very good.

Courtesy of Degarth. Pours a dark dark – opaque darkness with nice light brown head. The aroma is big with roasty malts to burnt malts that get swallowed by a pile of oak chips. I do get a hint of the bourbon too. The taste starts dry and roasty with hints of bourbon. Beyond that a sweetness kicks in along with a healthy dose of wood. It ends sweet burnt and roasty with a mild bourbon oakiness that lingers. Double yum.

Sprecher Czar Brew ~Russian Imperial Stout Aged in Oak Bourbon Barrels

Liters Bottled: 1200
Bottled: Spring 2007

9/05/2007: Sprecher Czar Brew is a rich, complex, well-balanced, and beautifully crafted barrel-aged beer. It is near black in color and quite opaque with a rich tan/brown head. Chocolate, vanilla, caramelized malt, sweet licorice, smooth bourbon, and a hint of oak can all be found in the truly wonderful and inviting aroma. The flavor definitely delivers that the aroma promised. It is malty and dark with great flavors that include chocolate, nice smooth chocolate bourbon, rich caramalized malt, and hints of licorice and barrek char. The alcohol is well-contained amongst the river of flavors of this medium-full to full-bodied brew. The texture is smooth and creamy on the palate. This beer is so easy to drink that it’s scary!

1 liter bottle (11.0% Alc. by Vol.) shared by Tmoney99. Thank you very much Tom. I really appreciate it! Rating #26 for this beer...

Thanks goes to Joebrew for sharing this bourbon aged brew. Label even reads "Czar Brew" Pours a near opqaue dark amber brown brew with little head if any. Aroma is complex, lots of dark pitted fruit, sweet toasted chocolate malt, coffee, and some cabernet red wine. Taste is thick and chewy with a very sweet tongue feel. The finish is where I detect more of the bourbon flavor and then a light chocolate aftertate.

Liter bottle from Holiday. Pours a thick black color with a tan head that lasts forever and deposits lacing in the glass. The aroma is strong with anise, a smattering of whiskey and something evil(&yummy). The flavor is complex with black licorice, charcoal, molasses, chocolate, oak and more black licorice. The barrel aging really mellows this beer. The mouthfeel is full, smooth and creamy. The finish is long and dry with a bit of lingering bourbon laced licorice. Overall: I really am impressed by this concoction. There is a calming Zen mellowness to this drinking experience. Recommended.

A gift shared with Stretchmonster Black cola in color with a active beige head. Smells like hot choclate and bourbon tasted like chocolate chip cookies. Bourbon warming sensation and finish. Spicier nose at room temperature. Is the 2006 smoother?
