Aroma of toffee, brown sugar, toasted malts, and raisins. Flavor is toasted malts, some toffee, raisins, and alcohol--not really any burn though. Semidry finish. Low sharp carbonation and a medium body. Still working on my doppel kick and this one definitely isn’t the worst. nolankowal (854), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 16, 2007 This is another one of Sprecher’s Brewmaster’s series that have shown up around here lately. It pours a beautiful reddish brown color with a one finger off white, tightly bubbled head, that quickly disappears. The flavor is sweet and malty and this brew is very drinkable. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 7, 2007 Bottled. Poured a clear garnet with a very nice tall cap of creamy beige head. Nose picked up rich dark fruit and toasted caramel sugars... some leafy hoppage too.. definite alcohol undercurrent. Flavor was also carried by toasty caramel and dark fruits.. warmer toward the back with earth, chocolate, and herbal notes. Rather chewy on the palate with a mild bitterness... warm finish of rummy caramel. Very good stuff. JoeMcPhee (5010), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 24, 2007 Tap at Hop Devil Grill. Dark brown beer, with a ruby tint. Thick light brown tinted head. Aroma is very sweet and malty. Light toast and toasted. Some chewy brown sugar, light toffee. Munich malt and some soft chewiness. There is a slightly astringent graininess that isn’t really appropriate in here. Herbal bitterness and even a touch of diacetyl. Okay.
