| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 16, 2005 Mild roast character and far too sweet on the palate. Needs more malt to add to the mouthfeel and perhaps a dryer characteristic to be considered a good doppel bock. Very average and barely what I would call a dopple bock. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 5, 2005 Clear brown color with a nice tan head. Aroma is malts with some almond and autumn leaves. Mouthfeel is chewy and creamy with flavors of honey, butterfinger candy bar, dried cherries, subtly bitter hops and a warming alcohol taste behind. Im not liking the alcohol flavor, like jet fuel. It does have a nice belgian dubbel taste. twindadplus2 (417), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2005 Pours a deep ruby red with a creamy half inch beige head. Aroma is lots of fruit up front with roasted malt and a brown sugar sweetness in the background. Flavor is like apple or plum fruit preserves up front followed up with a hit of caramel/brown sugar sweetness and a doughy flavor throughout. The sweetness is tempered nicely by the yeast and alcohol bitterness. Nice and full bodied with a sweet, spicey finish. I can see this why this was called liquid bread, a very satisfying beer. 1FastSTi (2580), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 12, 2005 Pours to a huge creamy beige head with an excellent head and a nice brown body. The aroma is definitely reminiscent of pears, burnt caramel, various malts, light soap? The flavor is is like a banana bread. Dark fruits and malts, light walnut, brown sugar fried bananas, yeast and spices. The head was so ungodly creamy. :) The body is decently bodied with a light alcohol and stickyness. This is a nice beer. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA

Taste is more fruits--dates, figs, and brown sugar/syrup with ooey gooey goodness and caramel oozing out of every sip. Body has hints of yeast and dough. Finish is light and slightly sticky. Very good. TheDean (785), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2005 Bottled. Sweet, malty aroma, toasty and sugary with a dark fruity background and notes of burnt caramel and black bread, some slight alcohol as it warms. Clear brownish red color with a fine, fading light tan head. Flavor profile is sweet and fruity, more dark caramel, brown sugar and plenty of raisin, finishing on a spicy, lightly bitter and gently warming note, followed by a long, lingering, pervasive dark malt character. Medium-full body, fairly smooth on the palate. Enjoyable, ultimately.
