Poured hazy brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good caramel toasted malt and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy balanced bittersweet malty flavor with a moderate smooth balanced finish of moderate to long duration.
Standout doppelbock.

May 20, 2009 Pours dark brown with a tan head and a rich malty aroma. Flavor is rich toasty and caramel. Finish is bready and a hint of bitterness.

Mar 30, 2009 16oz bottle served in a pilsner glass. Poured a deep reddish brown with a thin tan head. Slightly metallic aroma to start. Mostly caramel malt in the aroma along with some noble hops. Malt dominates as would be expected. Fairly rich with a long dry malty finish. Malt is a little muddled for my tastes, but that is pretty typical of an American dopple.

Mar 14, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty sweetish caramel aroma with some hints of dark fruit. Sweetish malty spicy caramel flavor. Has a sweetish malty spicy caramel finish with some hints of dark fruit in the aftertaste.

Feb 25, 2009 Lovely deep garnet colour. Aroma has dried cherry accents, chewy dark malts (light molasses) and some alcohol. Fairly smooth body, albeit with some alcohol character. There’s some background nuts and chocolate but for whatever reason this isn’t hitting the post as well as I figured a Sprecher Doppelbock would.

Feb 21, 2009 Bottle. Dark brown with reddish tint and almost opaque. Small tan head. Aroma of raisin, dates, molasses, honey and liquid bread. Nice soft and gentle carbonation. Total liquid bread crust, exactly what I look for in a DB. A little on the thin side and gets hotter as it warms.

Feb 16, 2009 Sampled on tap at the sprecher tour (glendale, wi). Pours a very nice darl brown with iced tea notes and small offwhite head. Aromas are very light, light sweetmalt mostly. Initial is very malty, bready amd biscuity with light dark fruit raisin notes and light bittering in the finish. Finishes failrly clean, easy going, smooth. I actually thought this was a very good sessioner. Cheers!

Jan 31, 2009 Dark amber in color with a nice tan head. Has a malty aroma and tastes sweet. Doesn’t have the lingering maltiness of other dopplebocks that I have tried, but is tasty.
