| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 10, 2005 Forgive me Barvarian Monks it’s been three years since my last Sprecher....Dopple Bock poured dark brown, slight foam, and a raisin (fruity) aroma. Meduim body beer, bready (rye) yeast flavor, and a roasted malt flavor dominate the sample. Had a nice alcohol undertone to it. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2005 Bottle: Deep rich ruby brown hue with a initial nice frothy head which settles but stays around enough to produce a nice lace. The aroma has notes of heavy roasted and caramelized malting, floral and earthy esters, hint of apple and plum, and some brown sugar. The taste starts quite sweet and dopple like, with a nice undertone of overripened fruits and a touch of spice upon the finish. Nicely balanced and a bit complex. The feel has an oily and lush quality, does get a bit old after a while but never lost drinkability. Tasted against Victory St. Victorious and the Sprecher seems more towards style and is a touch more complex. Recommended. Got Stout? (173), Wisconsin, USA

This doppel has a wonderful mild roastiness and fruitiness to the nose, and it repeats that combination multiplied many times when one drinks it. The final taste of the drink will be one of roasty, thick alcohol. I like it, and will buy again, but only because I’m local. No need to go out of the way for this one. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 31, 2005 Dark reddish mahoganey. Thin creamy off-white head. Aroma has roasted fruit, spicey grapes. Taste is tame, but full. Its a nice balancing act between the roasted and dark fruity malt and the light citrusy hops. Lubiere (4549), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Nose is raisins, hint of pumpernickel, rich malts and light caramel. Taste is sweet maltiness with more caramel and hint of brown sugar. Dark fruit notes coming through as well as light spiciness. Body has big carbonation feel and light creaminess. Finishes with a subdued sweetness (sort of dry as well), light caramel faint roasted malts, and more light fruit. Odd doppelbock. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 28, 2005 16oz bottle. No head, brown colored beer. Smells like raisins. More dark fruitiness in the taste, seems fairly light in body for a doppel, but not weak. Carmel and something slightly burnt. rounded off by a bit of lingering butterscotch and a dull sweetness. There’s also a fair amount of alcohol taste. Good overall.
