| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Very dark burgundy color, with a collar of light tan foam. Wort-like nose, with some nice malt elements of caramel and raisins, butterscotch and honey. Flavor is tremendously lacking and poorly flavored, doesn’t have the intensity I would like. Not extracted well. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 12, 2008 Pours brown with a very small, almost nil, beige head. Toasty malts up front, smooth caramel and soft bitter chocolate in the finish. The bottle I had was mostly flat, so it robbed this beer of some flavor and its body, but it was still a pretty nice brew. I’d like to try this again with more carbonation. timsilvia32 (447), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2008 Cloudy amber pour, off white head. Large amount of small carbondation permeating throughout. Malty/sweet malt aroma. Lively mouthfeel. Good mix of roast and sweet malt flavor. Strong toffee/caramel, hints of raisin. Very medium bodied, with a little stickiness to it. Excellent version of the style, better than some German versions I’ve had. Vac (2394), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 5, 2008 Bottle sample at RBSG ’08. Pours with a deep mohagony body topped by a thick tan head with some lacing. It’s sweet and malty with notes of toffee and a hint of roastiness. Medium to full bodied and smooth. jbuzz (664), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 12, 2008 Thanks to sprinkle and stall for this! Brown with a light brown head, along with some spotty lace this one looks pretty pretty good. Roasted malts aroma. Thin, but a little more viscous as it warms. Bittersweet chocolate, figs, dates. Doughnutty finish. DenverLogan (421), MileHi, Colorado, USA
