The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, leading to a dry bitter and roasted end. More like a stout than a Doppelbock. Papsoe (15107), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 25, 2009 Lovely deep garnet colour. Aroma has dried cherry accents, chewy dark malts (light molasses) and some alcohol. Fairly smooth body, albeit with some alcohol character. There’s some background nuts and chocolate but for whatever reason this isn’t hitting the post as well as I figured a Sprecher Doppelbock would. argo0 (6986), Washington DC, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 16, 2007 Bottle. Pours a brown colour with a good creamish beige head. Aroma of some roasted caramel and roasted malt with dark fruits. Good mouthfeel. The flavor has a roasty maltiness with dark fruits, roastish malt, some wood and just a bit of spices. Sweet caramellic roastish bit spiced finish. Bit too sweet but a fine brew.
