| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 31, 2005 16 ounce bottle. Pours dark root-beer, lots of bubbles, with a huge fluffy tan head leaving plenty of lace, moderately lasting…strongly herbaceous nose with bits of cherry and dark chocolate peeking through, odd….very light initial mouthfeel, root beer-cola character dominating, with cola continuing on into the lightly chocolaty midpalate, odd fruitiness evident throughout (apricots, cherry, pineapple)…far too light both in body and in flavor for a porter if you ask me, and really just weird and not well put together Probiere (992), Iowa, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 31, 2005 A huge flip top bottle and a fancy, black-ruby pour with slowly receding tan head. But...thin bodied. Very thin bodied. Although the pimped Dutch cocoa and the raspberries make appearance, that’s about all there is to this beer. Some roast in the finish, but really....there’s not much here, which is a shame b/c with a beefed up body and lots more sweetness and chocolate malt, this’d be damn decadent. Drunk in memory of Robert (dortmunder). May he find his peace. atpayne (615), Zionsville, Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 18, 2005 Pours fairly dark brown and settles black with nearly opaque reds around the edge. Creamy tight brown head. Aroma is a concentrated berry with a faint roasted malt below. Have to try very hard to get chocolate in the aroma. It needs a more enticing aroma. The flavor is tart and sweet. I would have expected more malt of the roasted and chocolate variety in the flavor. There is a faint roasted malt but I dont’ get nearly enought roast or toast for a porter. Sour fruits in the finish. It is also lacking the cocoa flavor that it is apparently brewed with. I think the raspberry overpowers it. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 16, 2005 Dark brown, head light tan with hints of red. Nose of raspberry candy, cocoa, and coffee. Flavor has lots of raspberries, strong but not overpowering, rather syrupy, like concentrated raspberries. Light chocolate, bitter roasts, some burnt wood. Rather plummy, some dark fruit. Cocoa/raspberry mix tastes like a chunk of candy. Nothing I’d be inclined to try a second time, but certainly not bad. Bockyhorsey (2552), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 15, 2005 Aroma was almost like standing on a peir and smelling the lake Michigan water. Dark body and tan head as usual porters are. A mild tart raspberry flavor at first. Toward the end a semblance of chocolate flavor appeared. Left a dry coco aftertaste on the palate. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA

Watery aroma with hints of roasty malt.
Flavor is also a bit watery with roast, coffee and a tart finish. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA

<P>
Chemical cherry/raspberry aroma. Deep black with some pinkish/red tinting and a thumb thick mocha head. Raspberry in the fore then a watery chalky flavor in the middle followed by a much too watery finish. If this had a little arse to it and more roasted/chocolate components it could be great because the raspberry flavor isn’t bad it is just alone without any other flavors to keep it company.
