Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt and tart berries. Flavor is dominated first by the tart raspberries then folds in some chocolate and coffee. Dry finish that’s basically reminiscent of a chocolate covered raspberry. Medium bodied and very enjoyable. tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2005 Pours dark brown with a tan, well-proportioned head. The aroma is of chocolate and maybe even berries. The flavor is, well, interesting to say the least. The "fresh tart raspberries" are predominant, with a little bit of chocolate. It gets sweet and then bitter again in a quite subtle finish. It’s ok, but lacks many of the characteristics of a good, sound porter. Braudog (3780), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2005 Big black beer with a towering brown head that quickly subsided. Sweet chocolate aroma. The flavor escaped me at first ... tartly sweet with a chocolate undertone. Now that I can read the description I know the tartness was the raspberry extract. A nice dessert beer. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 8, 2005 Pours a very very dark shade of mahogany. Thin layer of tan head. Quite a few bubbles. Aromas of you guessed it, roasted malts, chocolate, and raspberries. Initial feeling is quite of bit of tartness, but then balanced out by a nice bit of sweetness which fades away to provide a nice dry aftertaste. Tastes like a chocolate covered raspberry, but neither flavor is overpowering, which lets a nice roasted malt character through. A bit on the thin side as far as body goes. Surpirsed by the poor reviews, but I cant wait to get another bottle. JFGrind (1360), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Aug 8, 2005 I’m happy that Sprecher has been in the beer business for twenty years. I have enjoyed their beers and hope to sample more. However, I wish their beer to mark the anniversary, Generation Porter, was more than a one dimensional sour fruit beer. The sour raspberries dominate this beer with Dutch chocolate a mere aftertaste. I purchased a 16 ounce bottle for under $3 @ Sam’s Liquors in Chicago. Ughsmash (4091), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 3, 2005 C’mon Sprecher.. I know you’re better than this. Pour looked very nice... deep black with a light layer of tan head. Aroma was primarily artificial sweetener and cocoa... with a little hint of raspberry. Mouthfeel was light and fleeting. Flavor was much like the aroma.. and the raspberry flavoring was almost sickening. Roasty chocolate malts provided the few flavor points that it received. Artificial sweetness was somewhat cloying and unpleasant on the finish. burgerlicious (308), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 25, 2005 Chocolate and raspberries. Boy, was I eager to sip this brew. Big fan of Weyerbacher Raspberry Stout. Maybe this will also capture my favorite chocolate covered jelly rolls. Nope. Not this time. Pours dark brown with a moderate tan head. The aroma held malty sweetness and a touch of smoke but only faint notes of the promised choclate and raspberries. Thin and watery texture and flavor that was weak and unfulfilling. Well, it sounded good on paper but didn’t come through.
