Pours dark like a porter should, moderate white head. Good aroma of coffee and chocolate, and something else in the background. Above average carbonation. Medium or less mouthfeel with mollasses and chocolate, raspberry hint. 500 ml bottle.

Pours dark brown with a hint of red. E finger tan thick luxurious head. Aroma of fresh raspberries and a caramel malt. First sip raspberry. Tyen the robust flavors of a good porter roasted malts. Finish dry and tart. Get’s better as it get’s warmer. This was the 2005 Vintage and was shared with LT. Judge. Aged VERY well. Would recommend cellaring this one if you have it.

Pours a dark brown color with a thick and creamy redish tan head. Big tart raspberry flavor dominates the flavor Nice robust roasted malts appear in the background as you drink.I didnt notice the cocoa in here though.This was a 2005 vintage and appeared to have aged VERY well! Received a bottle of this from a very good friend this past September. I tried to hold off on opening it until more time had passed to see how it would cellar, but I gave in last night and cracked it open. Beautiful thick black color with medium brown head. Aroma: cocoa and raspberry, as predicted. Nice roasted smoky scent as well. The flavor was more chocolate and tart raspberries...almost sour. A bit more watery than I remembered but all in all a very solid and enjoyable porter. It’s a shame it’s retired, as this one could have been a gem if Sprecher had a little while to work with it.

16oz bottle; Nose of chocolate and light berries; Hazy dark brwon with a medium glass-lacing tan head; flavor has lots of tart raspberries and chocolate. Kind of a chocolate/raspberry fruit/herb (cocoa) beer!

One liter-ish bottle. Poured an opaque dark brown color. Head was thick and tan with good retention. There was some decent lace on the glass at the end. Aroma was of chocolate and soy with a whiff of raspberry. Sweet, tart, and carbonated all at once up front which mellows into a slow, delicately sweet, fruity raspberry taper. There is a hint of roasty bitterness at the end tempered again by subdued tart fruit that lingers. Chocolate and raspberry flavors mostly. Pretty good.

blackish brown body, light tan creamy head. aroma is raspberry and wine-like similar to a merlot. background aroma is roasted chocolate malt. flavor is tart raspberry and light chocolate malt yet somehow goes astringent and vegetal like a multivitamin. there is bitterness like spinach and dryness like a shiraz. so close but wanders off.
