Commercial Description:
Celebrating 20 years of remarkably good taste! Characterized by a medium-body & dry well-balanced finish, this deep brown porter brewed with Dutch cocoa and pure raspberry extract evokes chocolate, caramel and fresh tart raspberries. Keeping our specialty product cool, still & dark pays rewards in flavor changes over the next year or more.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a redish hue. Almost opaque. Flavor was of bitter cocoa and tart rasperry. The disappointment is that there is no middle ground. Not a complex beer. Medium palate. Drinkable, but not extraordinary.

giant swingtop bottle, with a sweet dessertlike aroma pouring out of the bottle. black, with clear raspberry and chocolate notes. a little bitter throughout (tannic/acidic) and a bit thin, but overall a decent beer.

Unmistakeable Raspberry presence, yes. Otherwise notable only for watery palate.

Bottle (500ml). Opaque ruby-black with a tiny off-white head. Light roast aroma, hint of grassy hops, and heavy lactic acidity - table cream and lemon juice. The taste is actually pretty decent, if incredibly mild - light cocoa/nutty roast malt, only a hint of fruity acidity - quick finish. Watery, lightly astringent, pretty flat, slightly acidic aftertingle on the tongue - weird, taste’s pretty decent.

Pours a really nice dark brown/black. Kinda bland nose with hints of cocao powder and rasberry as well as some sweet malt. Kinda tart flavor to it with hints of sweet rasberry syrup and hints of chocolate. It’s like a mild chocolate covered rasberry. Not bad, but not great.

Pours dark brown with a short lasting tan head. The aroma has raspberries up front giving tartness, stale-ish malt, ice cream maltiness. The raspberries seem overripe giving it a bad tinge. Medium body with a light amount of semi-soft carbonation. Taste starts out with some toasted malt, but even more are the tart raspberries. There is a bit of sweetness. The cocoa is only a hint in the finish. The finish is general is fairly sharp. Luckily the taste is significantly better than the aroma. This strikes me as more of a fruit beer than a porter. Not bad, but I wouldn’t want it on a regular basis.

Pour is a dark black with a small tan head. Aroma is berry and chocolate. Flavor is much of the same but the artificial berry stands out. Berry and porter? Who thought of this? Not real good and you don’t want more than one of these in a evening.

500 mL bottle shared with Lubiere (thanks Luc!). App.: reddish-black, clear, light mocha-grey-red head. Aroma: raspberry jam up front, a bit of chocolate behind that, then french-roast coffee "skunk". Very "fresh" fruit! Palate: med.-thin body, med. carbonation. Flav.: tart raspberries, a hint of sweetness, plenty of raspberry jam, solid bitter-roasted finish. Dark coffee lingers. I gotta go against the grain, this is nice!
