Commercial Description:
This coarse filtered wheat ale is fermented with a German yeast culture for a refreshingly light spiciness and hints of citrus fruit. A cloudy appearance and an immense creamy head are characteristic of this lightly hopped Bavarian brew.

Hazy golden /orange color, lots of yeasties, moderate head with good lacing and a fresh and citrusy clove aroma. Light to medium bodied, lemon, orange and clove flavors with a mild lingering banana sweetness in the finish. Quite flavorful and made the Erdinger Weiss I sampled with it seem a little washed out. One from their excellent variety pack.

Rerate, on tap at Sprecher, January 2006.
I used to loathe this beer, but thought it deserved another try, and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t nearly as retched as I remember. Cloudy pale yellow in color with a creamy, milky white head. Aroma is traditional, with bananas and cloves promulgating most. Flavor is a bit reduced, but there are nice elemental lemons, bananas and tiny vanilla currents. All in all, a middle of the road hefe, but nothing to scoff at any longer.

On tap at Sprecher, November 2004.
Nice try, Sprecher, but this hefe misses the mark. Too hoppy and fizzy, with not enough yeast, spice or fruit to be found in the brew. Several times I found myself thinking that this tasted like Miller Lite mixed with a weiss, creating some sort of unnatural cacophony.

On tap at the brewery 11/26/2004 Appearance is a hazy yellow with s small head and some lace. The aroma is of banana and clove. The flavor is refreshing, banana, clove, and a fairly rich body. Overall, not bad.

Bottle pours cloudy pale yellow, small foamy white head, strong carbonation, with spotty lacing.   Yeasty/bready aroma with hints of banana and clove.   Bready flavor, fairly light tho, with some slight clove & over-ripened banana.   Medium body, good mouthfeel.   Finishes clean, crisp, slightly sweet, with light spices.   Probably one of the better American made German Hefeweizens I have had.   Thanks goes out to heemer77 for the trade!

head to head with berghoff faint banana aroma, much brighter yellow than the berghoff, less wheat/malt flavor than berghoff, a little more fruit flavors. Overall a pretty acceptable beer

Hazy orange coloured body with blonde coloured highlights and a small white head. Aroma of corn, curacao, coriander seed and honey. Medium-bodied; Light funky wheat flavour up front with some sugars and a bit of ’normal’ tastes. Aftertaste clean from the other flavours with little else-not a strong showing at all! Overall, nice to try-but overall, a bad offering. Stick to some other beers from this brewery and bypass this one. I sampled this 16 ounce bottle purchased from Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York on 10-July-2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Pours a slightly cloudy gold with a very small head. Aroma is nice and light with oranges with a hint of cloves. The taste is oranges and a touch of banana. A solid hefeweizen. As good of a wheat beer I have had that was made in the US.

Draft, served at the Berghoff, no less, in Chicago. A good thin hefe head with a nice lace. Body is suitably cloudy, like a lemon peel. Nice spice and lemon notes, or maybe that was the smell of the lemon slice they stuck on it. Still, very clean and refreshing, nothing to jump out and bite you, but an ideal lawnmower beer.
