Commercial Description:
This coarse filtered wheat ale is fermented with a German yeast culture for a refreshingly light spiciness and hints of citrus fruit. A cloudy appearance and an immense creamy head are characteristic of this lightly hopped Bavarian brew.

16oz bottle from Kingdom Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a generally bright golden color with a one finger white head that settles quickly leaving some lacing of the glass. Aroma is bready and yeasty with some sweet honey and caramel notes, hay, grass, and some faint spice and flowers. Flavor is similar with predominately bread, yeast, banana, and citrus notes. Just a hint of tanginess on finish. Generally light to medium body. Nice ale.

Nice citrus and banana aroma. Lightly tart flavor with nice bready malts and some light yeast notes.

Bottle (500ml). Looks fine - Cloudy light gold with an average drizzly diminishing white head. There yeast and ripe banana in there, and mild sweet/herbal bitterness, but there’s an odd up-front scorched caramel that doesn’t quite belong. The taste is okay, but odd for a hefe - like the aroma, but with a strange slightly off / overripe pineapple flavour that dominates. Average-to-light bodied, and mildly acidic, there’s less life to the mouthfeel than I like, and it fades very, very quickly. Not too good, I’m afraid.

Light pale yellow American light lager looking. Aroma is pleasant enough with a notes of honey and applider but also a hint of staleness. Very little bitterness with an extrememly light mouthfeel. Medium white head which is short lived. Disappointing as a wheat ale. Much more like a lager.

Bottle. Pours unclear yellow with a dense white head. Tastes and smells like lightly buttered popcorn. Hints at fruit, spice, and yeast. Also, the body is a bit watery. Sprecher makes some good beers, but this is not one of them.

Cloudy banana yellow with a sudsy white head that retreats slowly. Aroma of standard hefe fare with banana, clove, yeast and some toasted malt. Taste of banana, lemon, mild citrus and light clove. Body is a little thin and tart with a nice dry finish. One of the better Sprecher’s.

All the normal flavors of a hefe: banana, clover, and so on. But what throws me off a bit is the smokey tatste.
