Taste of everything I mentioned but all mixed up with none of the characteristics coming out on their own. Not impressed compared to other double IIpa’s. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Sep 14, 2007 I’ve had some great IIPAs, some fair one and only a few that truly sucked. This is now officially my least favorite IIPA. Pours bronze with a dense light tan head. The aroma has bready caramel, hops with a veggie-ness to them and some locker room odor. Medium body that seems flat until some light carbonation comes out on the finish. The flavor starts with a veggie malt flavor and a tiny amount of sweetness - everything tastes wrong in this. The finish has onion and woody notes. Just plain bad. I need to get a Black Bavarian to regain some faith in this brewery. LtJudge (432), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

Aromas of caramel malts only a hint of hops.Taste of caramel malts and a big bitter bite.I was expecting alot more hop punch to this one,but its just not there. There is a wierd "off taste" in here as well. Bitter finish. Tmoney99 (4769), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 11, 2007 Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured clear brown color with a moderate off-white frothy head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate citrus hoppy and malty aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet small alcohol bite finish of moderate duration. This is a solid beer. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Sprecher IPA²
9/05/2007: Sprecher IPA² pours a golden amber color with a frothy beige head. The aroma is citrusand soft resin hops with some caramel malt. The flavor is mostly caramel maltiness with lots of orange hops and a mild to moderate bitterness. There is definitely a hint of some darker malt lurking in the background as well, but it only seems to influence the flavor from afar and doesn’t peak out enought to really nail down its specific qualities. At warmer temperatures, some of the alcohol starts to show in the flavor. The plethora of hops creates an oily or slick palate. All in all this is a good, easy-drinkin’ Double IPA that has a full flavor, but isn’t overly hoppy or bitter (definitely far from being a "hop bomb"). It is well-balanced and really reminds me of a slightly stronger version of the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/propeller-ipa/52 IPA. Another way to sum up this beer is that it is kind of like a thinned down barleywine with a good dose of sweet, orangy hops thown in.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Courtesy SoLan. Pours a clear, dark amber with a small off white head. Not bad looking. Smells of mild grapefruit hops, a little bready, with some malts. The flavor is of pretty stale hops. Very subdued, I cant believe they call this a double IPA. Some mild citrus flavors show up, the hops are so measley that it just kills the beer. The malts try to give it some life, but their efforts are meaningless. Not very good. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Sep 6, 2007 Courtesy MrFacto. Deep amber/ruby. Small, dense white head. Soapy, vegetal, herbal, resinous hops and lightly sweet, stale grains. Medium body, balanced carbonation. Drinkable. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 30, 2007 Listed as Sprecher I2PA. So is it a DIIPA? Seems like it should be. Hazy amber color with a light head. Aroma has some light citrus and pine with apples and bread. Flavor is syrupy, sugary, with a light hop bitterness. Sweetness overtakes any hop dominance that should be there. DIIPAs like this will be the ruin of the style.
