Commercial Description:
This traditional ale was originally brewed in England for the British troops stationed in India. Double dry-hopped,it has intense hop flavors and aromas delicately balanced with a potent, yet delicious, malty sweetness.

Randy's Notes: "Our IPA is of the imperial or double style, therefore much stronger than the normal IPA's now found everywhere. It has a very balanced but different flavor than most US micro types focusing on more on malt and hop balance where CA IPA's emphasize massive hop aroma and bitterness."

Editor's Note: also known as IPA2 Double IPA.

Poured a darker and cloudy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, grapefruit and caramel. Somewhat fruity. All the aromas on the subtle side. Tastes of oranges and caramel with light flowers. Not overboard bitter. Starts off light to medium bitter and ends on a nicely balanced malty sweetness. Compared to the aroma, the taste was a very nice surprise.

Bottle thanks to a wonderful Secret Santa. Pour is a clean orange with a tint of red. Aroma come off this as being very fruity hops, starfruit, lemon, orange, some pine, and some sweet candy sugar as well, quite nice. Mouthfeel is very oily and viscous, with a well defined ending bitterness. The flavor comes off as a nice thick pine and grapefruit taste. This is one tastey IPA. I’ve got a lingering taste of it as the tip of my tongue still tingles after a sip is long gone.

Pours to a clear golden body with average carbonation. There is a thick, rocky off-white head. The aroma is definitely dry-hopped. I get all types of hops. Grass, citrus, floral. Sweet malts. The flavor is mostly sweet malts. I also get a spicy banana flavor. Weird. In an IPA? It’s definitely bitter. Also some strawberry leaf hops. The palate is bitter, medium bodied, and has a good carbonation to it. I like what my local brewery has done to this IPA. It’s very distinguished from other IPAs.

When all’s said and done this is a great IPA. The biggest upset is the aroma. Where are the hops. It seems like the malts dominate. However, the first sip is flavor country. Sweet malts and fruity hops everywhere. I kind of picked up some alcohol flavor. Leaves a nice hoppy aftertaste. It’s cool that it comes in a 16oz bottle too. pretty cheap when you do the math. I have no idea why it’s a seasonal beer much less one for the summer. On another note. I wish this company would "Americanize" their labels a little more. Until a few weeks ago i though this was an European brewery. Partial to the US, I never would buy a Sprecher.

Slightly murky ruddy orange amber with a medium sized rocky white head. Muted citrus and grassy hop aromatics. Malty sweet flavors with a slight diacetyl tinge. Grassy hop notes and a residual bitterness follow, and extend into the finish. Mouthfeel is medium light.

Pours reddish and cloudy with a lingering off-white head. Smells of alcohol, sugar and straw. Taste is an unexpected sweet coupled with an underlying bitterness with some hoppiness as well as caramel undertones. Grassy notes on the finish.

bottle. love these 16 oz. bottles from Sprecher. pour is a dark amber with very little head but a thin layer of foamy lace sits on top of the brew. a certain malty sweetness hits the palate on the front end, followed by a citrus, floral hop bitterness on the tail end. seemed just slightly out of balance at first, but as I near the end of the 16 ounces, it tastes pretty damn good and I wish I had another.

Bottle. Small ivory head that mostly diminished, fair lacing, fine-very large sized bubbles, carbonated, hazy, and an orange brown hue. Malty, caramel, hoppy aroma. Sweet, bitter, malty, caramel, and hoppy flavor. Slightly tingly mouthfeel. Light-medium body.
