From the bottle, pours black with a thick brown foamy head. Aroma is dry, not quite smokey, but gives the impression that a dryer stout is about to hit the lips. Taste is initialy smooth with some silky chocolate, followed quickly by a bitterness that hold throughout. Notes of cocoa powder and dark roasted malts, this finishes rather dry but not quite bittering. It’s....ok.

Sampled on tap at the sprecher tour (glendale, wi). Pours a deep dark blackish hue with brown notes and small cinnamon head. Aromas are light on the nose, light dry soda bread, darker malts, and a hint of chocolate. Body is thinner than expected, light notes of darker malts, chocolate, light cream, and vague dry soda bread. Finishes with minimal sweetness and a nice palate stick. Ok.

Decent beverage. Fairly creamy, has some of the overtly grainy aspects that I associate with spent grain and the midwest. This, however, is balanced with a nice mild roasting and not too much sweetness. Overall, I’m happy with this, though it definitely could fall more on the dry side of stouts in general.

Deep amber color with a medium brown head. Dry flavor of roasted coffee with a mild chocolate aroma and a creamy mouth feel.

9/22/2008: Sprecher Irish Style Stout pours out in a dark chocolate-colored steam and is opaque in the glass and has an average-sized tan head. The aroma is both sweet and robust as notes of rich chocolate are followed by roasted malt and cocoa powder. The flavor is similar with dry, roasted maltiness, caramelized sugar, semi-sweet and dark chocolates, and hints of coffee and cream in the finish. This beer has a medium to medium-full body and a good, creamy mouthfeel. Overall this is a good, robust strout that does a good job of illustrating the dry, Irish style. Tasty!

About 4 months since St. Patty’s day and this beer just showed up on the local shelves. Seemed to still be in nice form, a hearty drinkable stout to say the least. Dark chestnut/brown pour with a lasting 1/2" head and mild lacing. Plenty of roasted malt and coffee aromas to keep my happy. Medium bodied stout that is smooth and drinkable. Creamy on the palate. Nuts, coffee and roasted malt flavors. Bitter chocolate finish with a buttery aftertaste. Minor hop presence, well balanced for a stout. Good brew.

Colour is dark chocolate almost black, head is medium sized tan colour. Aroma is of lightly roasted coffee, and possibly a little scotch. Taste is incredible, coffee, toffee and hint of smoke. Awesome beer!
