Nice aroma of malts, smoke, caramel and bittersweet chocolate. Some toffee in the flavor accompanied by sumatra-esque qualities, baked bread and just a hint of vanilla with a robust and dry finish. Pretty carbonated. A very drinkable beer. I could drink this often. Nice sample of this style.

Dark brown with a smallish dark tan head. Aroma of coffee, roastiness, some chocolate. Finishes dry.

Black and thick palate. Roasty, Guinness-like aroma. Tall but short lived brown head. Flavor is too sweet for the style, but there is roasted malt. Cut down on the sweetness and this will be at the top of its class. Dry, popcorn flavor in the finish.

Dark color. Smell of hops, coffee, toffee, caramel, bits of smoke and some roasted malt. Taste of caramel, roasted coffee, malt, toffee, chocolate, bread, hops and a nice bitterness at the end. Also some nut flavor at the end. No, not mine! LOL!

Bottle... Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, well tanned head. The aroma is subtle, almost nondescript, in fact. However, I was able to pull from it some nice dark chocolate and vanilla. Terrific balance. Roasted, gently bitter chocolate and espresso. Light to medium-bodied with a dry mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Finishes chocolaty, lightly bitter, then dry. Kudos to jimbowood for shipping the bottle to me!

Bottle. Pours a respectable black with a small tan head. The aroma is a bit weak, but has chocolate, coffee, and a thin sourness. I was really impressed with the flavor profile. Though it is just ever so slightly thin, it’s got the dry stout flavor profile down pat. There is an adequate body of bittersweet dark chocolate and coffee. The finish is nicely semi-dry with an iota of spiciness and raisins. The entire beer has a slightly tart, burned note about it. Good stuff. I could drink this anytime as a session brew.

The aroma has raisins, toasted malt, coffee, leaves, and chocolate. The appearance is super dark brown with a medium head. The flavor has all the elements from the aroma with what seems to be tannins giving it an off taste. The palate is thin for a stout but the aftertaste is bittersweet chocolate. I was disappointed with this one but it’s not awful.
