Commercial Description:
Fire-brewed African style ale, brewed with banana extract
Bananas are the main ingredient in mbege style beers popular in Eastern Africa. In keeping with tradition, this is brewed with real bananas and presented unfiltered. Light hints of banana remain present in the aroma and flavor of this unique offering

Bottle fresh from the brewery. Cloudy light orange amber with small, short lasting white head. Aroma is sweet banana and grain but as it warmed it smelled like a medicinal infected homebrew. Flavor is banana, sweet brown sugar, bitter alc, lemonheads, grain. Thin body and watery. My tongue feels all soapy in this palate destroying mess, the alc is too prevalent, and I’m not sure exactly who would drink this, even if they had Celiacs. Though I could actually see this being an awesome mixer along the lines of a bitter.

Pours a thin caramally orange with quickly dissipating head. Smells like mild apple cider with a hot alcohl aroma as it warms. Also some zoo like funk. Very cidery flavor, touch of unripened bananas. A bit bitter on the back sides of the tongue, which doesnt mesh well with the other flavors. Aftertaste is dry and not entirely pleasant. An interesting experience. From my room mate "Alcoholic sour patch kid smothered in zebra piss"

Bottle: Pours a thin looking bronze-ish color; the head is a fading film. The aroma is sweet, and herbal with honey, ginger and an odd estery banana touch. Thin bodied with an odd flavor. Sorghum gives off a distinct flavor, that I have not developed a taste for yet. The flavor is plasticy and sweet, with an herbal background and a banana extract character. A bit strange, and unappealing; in my humble opinion.

16oz bottle-A dark golden/light amber body with no head whatsoever and it poured like soda pop. Aroma of sweetenss followed by crap from the primate exhibit at the zoo. Taste of banana with a slight sourness then nothing. I was expecting worse.

Pours a cloudy pale amber with a very thin fizzy white head and some sediment. Smells like a vegetable compost pile. Sweet tart vinous taste of over ripe bananas with some medicinal notes as well. Acidic feel in the throat after the swallow. I suppose if you lived in eastern Africa and were used to seeing predatory wild animals and starving children with flies on their faces, you might consider this a great beer. But since I don’t - - I don’t.

Great idea, inventive and a good try. The smell and appearance is promising but the mouthfeel is too sweet for me. I really tried but just not for me.

Yuck. Sweet, a little spicy, but gave the distinct impression of drinking silage.

16oz bottle. Poured a medium and slightly hazy amber color with an averaged sized head. Aromas of bananas with some citrus and caramel in the background. Tastes of bananas. This one was bananas all the way - stronger in the aromas though.
