Commercial Description:
AUTUMN - Traditionally brewed to celebrate the harvest season, this reddish-brown lager has a rich caramel character and a long flavorful finish. Its delicious malty sweetness is nicely accented by a slightly fruity bouquet and a mild hop flavor.

500 ml bottle, via milwcu29. Pours a clear orangish copper colored body under a fizzy beige one finger head that receded to a whispy film. Aroma is rather grainy and toasty with the lightest hint of munich and toffee malts. A little light diacetyl as well. Flavor is fairly thin and grainy. More of a toasted flavor than anything. Not much sweetness till later in the finish. Mouthfeel is fairly thin with intense prickly carbonation. Overall, a pretty weak Oktoberfest. Not much malty sweetness and really lacking in body.

Pint bottle via trade with milwcu29 - Thanks Chris! - Pours amber with a nice offwhite head that stays well and laces the sides of the glass. Aromas of caramel, light nuts, and some toasted malts and just a bit of bannana. Flavor is caramel, toasted malts, a little toffee, nuts and light german hops on the finish.. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. One of the top oktoberfests I’ve tried..

Sampled from tap on 10/14/2006 at McQuiston’s Malthouse in Madison, Indiana... Amber color and clear. Mild to moderate amount of carbonation with an ivory crown. The aroma is mostly caramel malt. The flavor is slightly sweet and mostly malt with a mild hop bitterness. There is just a bit of alcohol peeking through. The mouthfeel and palate are smooth. This is probably one of the better American Oktoberfest offerings. 6 oz draught, $1.50 at McQuiston’s Malthouse.

Pours with a nice light tan head, very little lace. Faint aroma. Slightly dark copper color. Very good body, mouth. Satisfying. Slightly nutty caramelly slightly roasty, barely bitter flavor. An enjoyable beer. Good session stuff. Had this one on draft at Bodega downtown La Crosse.

Large head quickly dissipated to a thin, off-white crown. I was advised to try this by someone who also enjoys Black Bavarian but also has problems with a certain off-putting taste in other Sprecher offerings. I did not find the offensive taste in this beer. The appearance is remarkable, with bronze color and pleasing carbonation. The taste is true to style. Caramel malt dominates the palate. Sweet, with just a hint of hops. Very drinkable.

Not the best but certianly not the worst. Its got a smooth even taste of malts perfect flavors for the fall. The malts of caramel, mild dark fruit and very mild toffee. Hops seems uninviting. Could drink more of this in Oktoberfest

New in town. From the German sampler pack bought at Fresh Market on Dale Mabry and Fletcher. Aroma is sweet malts, quite deep with caramel and fruit accents. Body is a pretty dark amber and holds a compressed and lasting, thumb thick, tan head. Very light fore with a metallic twang and then fruit and caramel malt accents. Finish is long and dry with some more fruitiness, but also more of that metallic flavor. A disappointment.

The aroma has candy sugar, caramel, yeast, biscuits, raisins, and herbal hops. The appearance is red-brown with a small head. The flavor has good qualities but not completely appealing. There are the same elements from the aroma plus a cardboard taste that seems to plague Oktoberfest beers. It also has an astringent bitterness. The palate is thin but OK for the style. This was not as good as I was hoping it would be.
