Commercial Description:
AUTUMN - Traditionally brewed to celebrate the harvest season, this reddish-brown lager has a rich caramel character and a long flavorful finish. Its delicious malty sweetness is nicely accented by a slightly fruity bouquet and a mild hop flavor.

This poured a rich, orange/copper color with a decent off-white head. It’s got a nice, sweet malt aroma, caramel-like. Very smooth & creamy mouthfeel. It tastes of caramel and toffee with a touch of nuttiness. The hops come across in the finish, a nice blending of the bitter with caramel.

Dark orange poour with lots of caramel and German hop aroma. Flavor is similar to Sam Adams O’fest with a lot of hop domination and a caramel nuttiness to it.

Nose is floral, hoppy and promises spice and complexity in the taste. Pours typical marzen with slightly murky brown. Flavor is suprisingly hoppy with good balance and mild, pleasing pumpkin spices (allspice, clove, cinnamon), as well as sweet malty tones and an unusual soapy character near the end. Long aftertaste is slightly chalky. Overall excellent, I would drink it again.

A decent Oktoberfest, but it isn’t heads above the rest. Pours with a good head that fizzles down, with the brew having the amber/brown color typified by Oktoberfests. This beer was smoother and sweeter - and less spicy - than most Oktoberfests. It didn’t leave that descernable finish of hops, malt and spice at the end of each sip. For a better Oktoberfest, look to Paulener, Hacker-Pschorr and the likes. If you want a microbrew Oktoberfest, Lakefront Brewery’s is better. And, if you’re a budget kind of guy, the Augsburgur is better, especially considering the price.

Bottle:Clean reddish amber hue with nice frothy but slowly fading head and some lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, pale and biscuity malts, peanut, apple and pear, grassy and aromatic hops, and a dusty yeast ester. The taste starts with a mellow sweetness and noticeable malt character followed by a equal fruity and spicy hop nature. The finish is bitter and nutty, a bit too hoppy for a Marzen. The feel is lively, crisp and thin. Overall a quaffable brew but unlike most Sprecher offerings, this one isn’t to true to style.

Rated this again recently. I am still a fan. Deep ruby red color with a thin head. Aroma of caramel candy, nuts, grass and some nice light malts. The taste is a little sweet wth walnuts and a little bit of coffee. This is a very light and enjoyable version of the style. I like this one a lot. One of the best from the brewer and in the style.
