Pours a dark almost red wine-red. medium-sized white head. Aroma is pale and malty, as is the flavor. Spice, bitter, and fruit are detectable in the flavor. Palate was a little thin for my taste. And the flavor was nice, but also lacking.

Clear reddish amber with a thick light brown head. Fruity aroma of honey, caramel, banana bread, and orange with a hint of ginger. Medium velvety body with soft carbonation. Fruity flavor of caramel, banana bread, honey, orange, apricot, and plum with a hint of allspice and cinnamon. A great session beer, perfect for an oktoberfest.

Pours a medium brown color with a bit of a red tint with little head. Caramel and malt on the nose. More malt in the flavor, but not as thick and meaty as I would expect an Oktoberfest to be. It still tastes good, but just a little on the weak side.

Reddish color with a medium off-white head. A sweet caramel malt aroma with spicy hops that has an almost English feel to it. Light bodied, spicy feel and taste. Caramel lingers with a dry finish. Falls into the too easy to drink category, 16oz is a plus in this case.

Something about the aroma reminds me of micros I drank 10 years ago--Red Feather Pale Ale from Chambersburg, Pa. Who cares. Nice spicy hops, beautiful appearance. Mild, but fine malt profile. There's something very typical about this: if you like Marzen, you'll dig it. I do. Thanks, Capt. Cougar.

2003: Copper brown with a fast-fading head. This beer is really mild and is perhaps the least-hopped Okto I've ever had! If you like mild, brown ales, you'll love this one, because it also comes with some complexity (a little sourness, but mostly caramel malt dominates). Maybe a hint of spiciness, too. Good stuff.

2003 Bottle. Deep orange with some brown/tan hues. Clear and bubbly. Head is small and white, good amount of lacing. Aroma is of some sweet mellow fruit, earthy malt and a touch of alcohol. Beer begins with a big lightly sweet caramel malt flavor that is lightly roasted. Medium-full body that holds up very well. No thinning or wateriness. Some sweet fruit flavors come out (light apricot/pear). But my favorite part was the hops that begins subtle and finishes with a magnificent balance that adds a nice amount of spiciness, and a touch of bitterness. Good mouthfeel, big and bubbly. My favorite oktoberfest to date probably. Still would like to see some sediment and more head. A bit reserved in malt flavor, could use some more. Slightly dry and grainy towards end. Bet this would be great on tap.

Color is a dull coppery amber brown with a nice light brownish head thats whipped buttery smooth and nearly an inch high. Takes some timely length to fade. Very minimal spotty lace. Aroma is strongly malty sweet with a honeyish toffee and some dulled dark citrus of plum and starfruit. Nice nose, just not as toasty as I like, but I like it anyways, screw the toast. Taste follows the aroma with a good portion of sweet toffeeish malts with some caramel aspects. Light dulled fruit also noted in some of the sweetness. Quite close to a being a doppelbock in its flavor. The finish brings out some late, slight toasty notions, but this sucker is all sweet rendered malts. Quite scrumptiously yummy. Close to full feel with a pretty creamy feel the whole way through. A nice O-fest, not as toasty as I like in the style usually, but I'll make an exception cuz this is a damn good beer non-the-less.
