Commercial Description:
AUTUMN - Traditionally brewed to celebrate the harvest season, this reddish-brown lager has a rich caramel character and a long flavorful finish. Its delicious malty sweetness is nicely accented by a slightly fruity bouquet and a mild hop flavor.

Pours a coppery amber with suprisingly high effervescence and a 2 finger creamy yellowish head. Aroma is caramel, lots of toasted grain, sweet white bread crust, dry cereal grains, light mineral notes, some herbal and floral hops and just a hint of toffee. Flavor is caramel, crusty white bread, lager yeast, light mineral notes, mellow toasted grains, floral hops and light metallic notes come out near the finish. The finish is nice with grassy, lightly bitter and floral hops, a little straw and toasted grain. Palate is medium bodied and suprisingly dry and a little over carbonated throughout. Good stuff overall, better than most Marzens availble here.

Bottle at an impromptu tasting at lithy’s. Pours orange with beige head. The aroma is strong butterscotch with some toast and wood. The flavor is butterscotch, toast, biscuit, and some leaves. Decent, but nothing special.

Clear copper color with a slightly off-white foamy head. Aroma of caramel and toasted matls, hints of honey. Flavor has toasted malts, cereal grain, caramel, some hops, and a bit of honey. Nice beer for the style.

16oz bottle from Sam at Hangar 24. Rating #163. Dark amber with an off white head. This had a strange aroma I couldn’t place, a little sweet and very grainy. Flavor was much the same but without the graininess. (1040)

Sampled at a Mead, Cider, and Beer Tasting sponsored by Binny’s Beverage Depot in Glen Ellyn, IL. Poured to my wine/sampler glass a hazy, brownish amber with modest, off white foam that reduced to a thin ring, film, and spotty lacing. The aroma was lightly toasted with a bit of malt sweetness as brown sugar, and a hint of caramel. The flavor was similar, adding some subtle hop bitterness, but still malt centric as it should be. Have tried a number of Octoberfests this season, and this is one of the above average Marzens.

Bottle - I didn’t expect this to knock my socks off, but it didn’t expect it to be so boring and bland, either. It’s a nice pour--deep amber with a white head--but it goes downhill from there. The nose is rich, toasty malt with caramel and a bit of apple. Taste is nasty sour malt and booziness, with some grassy hops on the finish. It’s a bit syrupy and bubbly in the mouth, and leaves a nasty aftertaste. No thank you.

Deep amber color. Aroma is malty with some a little biit of fruit and hops. Flavor leans a little to the hops, but plenty of malt character. Toasted malt hints.

16oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, nuts, toasting, dried oak leaves, and a hint of caramel. Poured orange/amber/slight copper in color with a small, tan, head that diminished but lasted around the edges. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of malts, dried oak leaves, light nuts, light brown sugar, slight caramel, and a hint of vanilla. Medium body. Slightly oily, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Malty, slight caramel, light oak leaf, finish is lightly dry.
